A Rogue Trader is granted significant autonomy and trading privileges both within and beyond Imperial space in exchange for serving the Imperium through exploration, resource acquisition, and colony founding.

Within Imperial space, a Rogue Trader can travel freely, maintain ships for transport and war, engage in commerce, and found a dynasty to pass on their warrant. They must report their presence and answer calls to arms.

Beyond Imperial space, a Rogue Trader must avoid harming the Imperium, assess and report on xenos threats, are authorized to eliminate openly hostile xenos, and can trade with deemed non-threats. They can also acquire resources so long as they are not a threat.

a Member of the Senatorum Imperialis, do grant to the Esteemed
Captain _________, of House ________ this
Greater Warrant of Trade,
with the Full Privilege and Rank inherent therein. The full body of this
text, and all rulings by the Adeptus Arbites, shall be available to a
Rogue Trader upon request to that Noble Adepta.

This Warrant of Trade shall grant to the aforementioned-Henceforth known as a Rogue


Trader- the Rights and Privileges enumerated below:
1. The Rogue Trader may found a Dynasty
a. This Dynasty may be founded for the purpose of Passing On this Warrant of Trade to a
Worthy Successor and to create a Logistical Network to manage the Rogue Trader’s
resources, so they may better serve the Emperor.
2. The Rogue Trader may travel as they wish within Imperial Space, provided that their Presence be
made known to the Imperial Navy Command for that Segmentum, excepting Segmentum Solar.
a. Entry to Segmentum Solar shall be Granted solely by the Authority of Battlefleet Solar,
or superseding that, the Senatorum Imperialis.
b. The Rogue Trader shall never, on pain of Forfeiture of this Warrant of Trade and the
Extinguishing of their Line, engage in Rebellion, Sedition, Treason, or Commit to any
Hostile Action against the Imperium of Man.
c. The Rogue Trader Dynasty may have, in its employ, any number of Ships for the Purpose
of Conveying Goods from one World to Another.
d. The Rogue Trader Dynasty may have, in its employ and number of Ships of War, provided
that they shall Answer any Call to Arms issued from an Imperial Battlefleet, and make
Haste to Defend the Imperium, its Holdings, and People.
e. The Rogue Trader is Duly Authorized to engage in Commerce anywhere within the
Imperium.
3. The Rogue Trader may travel as they wish beyond the bounds of Imperial Space. In
doing so a Rogue Trader shall be Tasked with the following Obligations.
a. The Rogue Trader shall never, on pain of Forfeiture of this Warrant of Trade
and the Extinguishing of their Line, consort with the Enemies of Man to bring
Harm to the Imperium.
b. The Rogue Trader shall assess the Potential Threat of any and all Xenos
Species so encountered in their Travels.
i. Should the Xenos Species in Question be deemed to pose a Grave Threat
to the Imperium, its Holdings, or Military, the Rogue Trader shall
endeavor to Eliminate them if possible, or Report their Findings to the
Nearest Imperial Commander with All Due Haste.
ii. Should the Xenos Species in Question be Openly Hostile to the Rogue
Trader, the Dynasty to which They are Attached or any Imperial
Citizen or Citizens, the Rogue Trader is Authorized to Eliminate the
Xenos Species on Sight, and Shall Report their Findings to the Nearest
Imperial Commander with All Due Haste.
iii. Should the Xenos Species in Question be deemed an Indeterminate
Threat-one which the Rogue Trader can not Accurately Judge-Then this
Warrant of Trade shall Grant the Rogue Trader the Authority to Speak
with the Xenos Species in Question in order to Gather sufficient
Information to form a Correct Assessment of Threat.
iv. Should the Xenos Species in Question be deemed a Non-Threat, then
the Rogue Trader is Duly Authorized by this Warrant of Trade to
engage in Commerce with the Xenos Species in Question. The Goods
received from this Xenos Species shall be Examined Closely and
Thoroughly by an Ordained Priest of the Adeptus Mechanicus prior to
Use. This Information shall be Compiled for Use against the Xenos
Species in Question should the Imperium of Man Actively engage in
Hostilities with said Species.
c. The Rogue Trader is Authorized to engage in Resource Acquisition as they see
fit.
i. Should these Resources prove to be a threat to the Imperium, its
Holdings or Military, they shall, on pain of Forfeiture of this Warrant,
be Disposed of.
d. The Rogue Trader is Authorized to found Colonies on behalf of the Imperium of
Man.These Colonies shall adhere to the following Rules:
i. These Colonies shall be populated solely by Human Beings as accepted by
the Lex Imperialis.
ii. These Colonies shall Obey all Laws of Tithing laid down within the Lex
Imperialis, and as Requested by the Adeptus Terra.
iii. These Colonies shall have no Dealings with Xenos, nor with Agents of
the Archenemy.
iv. These Colonies shall be Ruled by the Rogue Trader, the Dynasty
thereof, or their Appointed Agents, or Operatives until such a time as
the Adeptus Terra appoints an Imperial Commander for said World.
I. The Rogue Trader may, in Accordance with the Lex Imperialis,
petition the Adeptus Terra to Appoint a specific Person as the
Imperial Commander.
4. The Rogue Trader is Authorized to, with the assistance of the Navis Nobilite, plot new
Routes of Travel through the Immaterium.
a. It shall be the Right of the Navis Nobilite to dispense Knowledge of these
Routes as laid down within the Lex Imperialis.
5. The Rogue Trader shall honor all Treaties, Compacts, Oaths, and Agreements made
with the Adeptus Mechanicus, and They shall Reciprocate.
6. The Rogue Trader, although a Peer of the Realm, shall have No Authority over the
Adeptus Astartes, the Imperial Navy, Imperial Guard or other such Military or
Governmental Functions, save as granted by the Commander of said Body.
