I would like to express my special thanks to our subject teacher Mr. Arvind Thapa who
gave me such a golden opportunity to do this wonderful project on topic of “Shangri-La
Hotel & Resort” and I am thankful even towards the college curriculum for including
such an important project in our study which also helped me in doing a lot of Research.
Introduction of Hotel

In over 40 years long history, Hotel Shangri~La, Kathmandu first opened its door in the
ever-developing Lazimpat Road. Designed by the famous Irish artist, Desmond Doig we
can still feel his presence in the design of the garden, the paintings, and the halls.

Conveniently located at the heart of the capital, Kathmandu, Hotel Shangri-La is a great
base from which to explore this vibrant city. The airport is merely 7 kilometers away
from the Hotel which is adjacent to diplomatic consulates and offers every guest a
private getaway in a bustling city. At Hotel Shangri-La, the traditional touch in the hotel’s
interiors fusion with state of the art facilities never fail to make our guests stay
worthwhile. Further complemented by other prominent features of the hotel include 24-
hour room service, free Wi-Fi in all public areas, 24-hour security, wheelchair
accessible, daily housekeeping service.

Whatever your reason for visiting Kathmandu, Hotel Shangri-La is the perfect venue for
an exhilarating and exciting break away.

The front office or reception is an area where visitors arrive and first encounter a staff at
a place of business. Front office staff will deal with whatever question the visitor has and
put them in contact with a relevant person at the company. It includes roles that affect
the revenues of the business. It also provides assistance to guests during their stay,

A lobby is a room in a building used for entry from the outside. It represents the
atmosphere, decors, staff and image of the hotel when a guest visits. Lobby should be
spacious but not wasteful. The natural flow of the guest should be towards reception,
cashier and information counters, during guest arrival and departures.
Kitchen

The kitchen is the place where food is prepared. In a hotel or in restaurant a spice room
is used for food preparation and is known as kitchen. In outside catering it is a place
assigned for food preparation like in trekking, rafting etc. The word kitchen comes from
the French word “Cousin” which means art of cooking or food preparation in the kitchen.

Kitchen is the central point of activities in all restaurants and hotels where food is
prepared. It is the heart of hotel. A hotel is defined as a place where lodging and foods

purpose of kitchen organization in a hotel or restaurant is to manage for the most

Some restaurants are a chain, meaning that there are restaurants which have the same

examples of chain restaurants that are all over the world. These restaurants serve fast
