Manila, Philippines – The Certified Public Accountant Licensure Exam (CPALE) commenced

last October 5,6 and 12, 2019. The Certified public accountant board exam is handled by the
Professional Regulation commission (PRC). The CPA board exam is part of a mandated by the
Republic Act. No.9298 or the Philippine Accountancy act of 2004 where aspiring CPAs are
required to take a handwritten exam in order to measure the competence. The October 2019
board exam is composed of the following different subjects; Financial Accounting and Reporting
(FAR), Advanced Financial Accounting and Reporting (AFAR), Management Advisory Services,
Auditing, Taxation and Regulatory Framework for Business Transactions. The examinations
were held in the various places.
The October 2019 CPALE results was released last October 21, 2019. There were only 2,075
out of the 14,492 takers who passed the examination. The school who got the highest passing
rate is University of the Philippines - Diliman (UP - Diliman) with a passing rate of 84.21% or 64
out of 76 passed the examination. The top 10 passers was leaded by Justine Louie Santiago
from the University of Santo Tomas (UST) with a 90.33% score and followed by Marlou
Alinsonorin from University of San Carlos (USC) with a 89.67% score. Christian Lawrence Go
the son of senator Bong Go got the third place with a score of 89.50%. The 4th place was
garnered by Kirk Saromines also from USC with a score of 89.33%. the 5th place was a tie
between 5 passers with a score of 89.17%. the 6th place got by a Thomasian with a score of
89%. The 7th placer was Marian Princess Sacriz from the Polytechnic University of The
Philippines – Sta. Mesa Main Campus with a score of 87.83%. the 8 placers was a two way tie
with a score of 87.67%. the 9th place got by Alyssa Nicole Roasario also from UST with a score
of 87.50%. the 10th place is a tie between 4 passer with a score of 87.33%.
Comparing the turnout of the examination, it is higher than the previous examinations last May
2019 with 1,699 passers. There were also 200 out of 474 schools got zero overall score in the
board exam. San Beda University only got 14 passers in the board exam. Based on the results
of the 2019 board exam results the top schools for accountancy are the Philippines of the
Philippines – Diliman, De La Salle University – Manila and University of Santo Tomas.
According to Joel Tan Torres, the former Professional Regulatory Board of Accountancy said
that there is a declining trend in the passing rate of the board exam. He also said that this a
wake up call for all the accountants and schools.
