What is a clause?
It is a group of words that includes a subject and a verb.
There are two Clauses
Aurora is a princess because she has a crown. in this sentence

What do we use relative clauses for?
For putting two ideas (clauses) together in one sentence and avoid repetition.
That people/things (S) She is the person that found my car keys.
Which things/animals (S) This is the library which/that doesn’t have wifi.
Why reason (Adv) The reason why Rose didn’t save Jack is unclear.
Defining Non-defining
Necessary information (everything is important) Extra information (not essential to the meaning of the
main clause)
No commas Commas
The relative pronoun is sometimes omitted when it is The relative pronoun cannot be omitted

The doctor who operated my sister is an orthodontist. The doctor, who is very handsome, is checking my
