BACHELOR OF SCIENCE I co-taught and individually taught a general education 4th grade class, elementary
Elementary Special Education SPED, and middle school ELA classes. I worked with my cooperating teachers to
Dakota State University plan lessons, assess progress, write IEPs, and develop two gamified classrooms. I
2016 – 2020 also taught math intervention and reading intervention groups in my 4th grade
class. I attended IEP, staff, SPED department, and SAT meetings. During the last
MINORS month, I have developed e-learning content, assignments, and projects.
Reading, Technology, & ENL Within my SPED placements, I worked with two ESL teachers and their students
Dakota State University to receive my minor in English as a New Language. I worked with students at all
2016 – 2020 proficiency levels including ELs in SPED.
2037 Kansas Drive I taught ballet, tap, and jazz to young students at a local studio. Working with
Brookings, SD 57006 these girls allowed me to see the progress each makes over the year. I had many
opportunities to differentiate instruction because each girl was at a different
skill level. I worked with each individually and as a group. This experience taught
me classroom management. While I was not in a “normal” classroom setting, I
CORE managed the students’ behaviors and learning effectively, or class time was
wasted.

Classroom Management SUPPLEMENTAL INSTRUCTION (SI) LEADER – COLLEGE ALGEBRA
Dakota State University/August 2018 – May 2019
Leadership
As a SI leader, my goal was to increase student retention and success within the
Collaboration targeted course. I designed lesson plans based off the lecture’s content using
Organization different research-based strategies to improve student comprehension. I held
three, hour long sessions each week. During these sessions, I led the students
Planning through reviews, activities, and mini lessons based on their needs. I provided
Student Motivation time during the lessons for student input and choice. I valued their feedback as
well as their questions. College students are not always eager to provide
possible answers or as questions; to address this, I utilized “wait time” and non-
verbal signals (thumbs up/down to show understanding, slow down, complete a
TECHNICAL problem, or repeat in a different way).

Google Classroom As a learning assistant, I helped students improve their writing. During the
sessions, students worked with me on brainstorming, critical thinking, word
Microsoft Office choice, essay organization, and more. I focused on the higher order concerns
PC Proficient first (thesis, focus, organization) then moved to the lower order concerns
(grammar) if time allowed. This way, I hoped the students would feel more
Starfish confident in their writing because the bigger “issue” was resolved or ideas for
Flipgrid improvement were discussed.

Ms. Tayler Logue TEACHER, TUTOR, STUDENT
2037 Kansas Drive I was the president of Teachers of Tomorrow (TOTs) for two years. TOTs met
Brookings, SD 57006 once or twice a month to host hour long professional development sessions,
participate in volunteer opportunities, and listen to guest speakers in the
education field. As president, I organized and ran the meetings. I searched for
and invited guest speakers as well as found quality development sessions for
QUESTIONS future teachers. I surveyed members and non-member future teachers to
determine their concerns or what they wanted to learn. I used this information
to plan activities or find volunteer opportunities that matched their wants, so
If you have any questions,
they could thrive in their own classroom.
