Before recording
Review unit 5 on English Discoveries.
Read and do exercises in Unit 5 Use of English file on Blackboard.

Read the oral production task instructions carefully.
Together, plan how you are going to start, develop and end your conversation. Some improvisation is
welcome though.
When planning, use the vocabulary and grammar structures you have learned in Unit 5. See Target
language above.
You can start like this:
Student A: Hi, Mariana.
Student B: Hi, Alex. How are you?
Student A: Fine, thanks. How about you?
Student B: I am okay. I was making models for Modelación estructural 2. My favorite subject. And,
I’m eating dried fruits now. Look at them, just like Unicef recommends.
Student: A: Do you usually eat dried fruits? They are healthy.
Student B: Well, my family loves healthy snacks. We always have lots of raisins, pecans, nuts,
pistachio and figs at home. My mom doesn’t like snacks with sweeteners. How about you? Do you
eat healthy snacks?
Student A: Yes, I do. But I prefer yoghurt. We buy a few bottles of yoghurt every week. Well, now my
brother does the shopping every two weeks so he gets 4 bottles for all of us. These days, we’re

Practice some times before recording the final version of your video.

Interact with your partner.
Improvise, if necessary.
Be in a well-lit area.
Speak as clearly as possible.
Look at the camera while you talk (as often as possible).
Smile.
Be confident.
Don’t just read.
Show objects, pictures or other people doing things, if necessary.
Use nonverbal communication.
After recording
Make sure both of you have spoken equally.
Make sure your video respects the time limit.
Test your video works well before sending the link or uploading the video file.
Paste the link of your video or upload the video file and the script (the script is referential) in the
Assignment section (actividad in Unit 5) on Blackboard. Each student should do so.
Check you have submitted your assignment in Review submission history (Revisar historial de envios).
