CHAIRMAN’S MESSAGE

“Our mission translates into delivering an outstanding learning

experience that truly transforms the student into a sophisticated
manager and a responsible corporate citizen.”
DEAR MBA ASPIRANT,

Greetings! Choices are never easy. Every time one has to make a buying decision, there are options to consider, research to be done,
assessments, evaluations and reviews to read, and a significant amount of time and effort expended in understanding what we ‘need’ from the
product and identifying that specific product that gives us the best ‘value’ for money. Imagine therefore the exponential difficulty in making the
decision to spend two years of your time, away from your family, in order to up-skill and learn? You cannot afford to make mistakes given all that
is at stake here. Therefore, in an effort to make this decision a tiny bit easier for you, we have put together an elaborate account of what Great
Lakes is all about. In the following pages, you will find ample information about what makes us unique and in what ways your time spent with us
is certain to benefit you.

To give you a gist – you are looking to enroll into a premier B-School, ranked among the best in the country, with a great campus and excellent
infrastructure, cutting-edge academic rigor, world-class faculty, course offerings with prestigious accreditations and affiliations, etc. All of these
are par for the course. So, what sets Great Lakes apart? What makes us distinct?

As a firm believer in the principle of customer astonishment, one of the core values of Great Lakes is to astonish our customers (a.k.a you!) who
come to us seeking a specific learning experience. Our mission therefore translates into delivering an outstanding learning experience (through
a state-of-the art curriculum, rounded off by a variety of extra-curricular activities) that truly transforms the student into a sophisticated
manager and a responsible corporate citizen. At the core of our corporate DNA is our commitment to learning and skill development as a
continuous process. We are keenly aware that the quality of the learning outcome is measured not by the effectiveness of problem solving, but
by how successful initiatives can lead to sustainability, stability and progress.

At Great Lakes, you will learn the art of doing business while at the same time understanding the impact of said business on the community.
You will become well-versed with the best and next practices, trends and economics, technology in all its glorious manifestations, inclusivity &
impact and so much more. Add to this, a heterogeneous cohort bringing a heady mix of cultural, academic and professional experience to the
table, to truly invigorate your senses. This is the holistic development that Great Lakes has inculcated in the 8000 plus students who have
passed through our hallowed halls. And we don’t stop just there. Another element of our DNA is our spirit of ‘pioneering’. From making the
Karma-Yoga outreach program a part of the curriculum to our initiatives in fostering innovation through the prestigious Atal Innovation Mission
Incubation Center, Great Lakes is committed to continued progress and evolution. Another case in point is the inclusion of ‘Analytics’ among the
functional specializations. Further, you remain a student for life – long after you have graduated and physically moved out of our premises –
since our teaching pedagogy includes ‘blended’ modules capable of reaching students and alumni across the world to keep your learning
constant and relevant.

During your time with us, you will not only learn subject matter from experts of world renown, but also work along with us, leading the change
and evolution of the learning process. This is the way of life as we know it. This is why we are distinct. This is also why Great Lakers are a rare
breed. And, this, is most certainly why I hope you will make an informed decision and choose to join the Great Lakes Family.

Swagatham!

DEAN’S MESSAGE

“The biggest changes in technology and entrepreneurship have come

as a result of people who dared to push the envelope and try a
different path rather than the one trodden by countless others.”
DEAR ASPIRANT,
“We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening.
Some of us let these dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light
which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.” ― Woodrow Wilson
The world is full of dreamers. The biggest changes in technology and entrepreneurship have come as a result of people who dared to push the
envelope and try a different path rather than the one trodden by countless others. They were the ones who eschewed the comfort of the familiar,
the softly enveloping embrace of the status quo. They never wore the halo of incumbency too well, because they were always eager to carve out
a new direction. They were bold, visionary, and ambitious. Not all of them were intellectual geniuses, but they had this crazy drive to achieve
something different. This is the world we live in now. Robotics, AI, and Machine Learning have changed the landscape, such that no competitive
advantage can last too long. The power of the incumbent is waning, and new companies and business models are taking over.

What has that got to do with me, you may ask. Well, I am here to talk to you about your dreams. You are achievers, all of you. That’s why you are
considering getting into business school. You aspire for the world to be at your feet, the hopes of your parents and your loved ones riding on
your shoulders. You have spent a lot of time thinking about the future. Your future! It is time to see whether your future aligns with how the
future in general will be. You are in a world where everything is changing. A bewildering set of new mantras and jargon is taking over. VUCA,
agility, digital transformation, deep learning. You get the picture. The question is, where do you think you will get ahead of these words and
phrases? Where do you think you can impress a potential employer with your knowledge gained during 2 years of your education? Wouldn’t you
think of an institution built in and for the 21st century? Let me tell you about Great Lakes Institute of Management. Let me tell you about a
school that is best geared to prepare you for the future, and help you realize your dreams.

Great Lakes has been a pioneer in contemporary Management Education. We had the foresight to start a cutting-edge business analytics
program long before it was a norm. Today, we are rated as having the very best analytics program in the country among all business schools
and among the top few internationally. We use a whole range of pedagogical methods to bring concepts to life for our students. Apart from
regular classroom instruction, we have a variety of experiential learning modes of instruction where students learn by actual doing rather than
theory. We have live projects offered by companies, simulations, real-time trading, conferences and seminars, industry interface and interaction
opportunities, etc. We have a one of a kind social engagement experiential learning program called Karma-Yoga, where students spend time in
villages around the institute, and provide instruction and help to poor tribals and farmers on a variety of issues including primary education,
healthcare, financial literacy, etc. You will interact with a truly select set of students filtered by our rigorous admissions process, chosen not just
for their intellect, but also for the diversity of thoughts and ideas they will bring into the classroom. Great Lakes is an amazingly diverse
institution, drawing students from all parts of the country, almost 40% of whom are female. What we offer is a nurturing environment, and not
cut-throat one. We take good care of our students, and consider ourselves a student-centric organization that places the overall development of
a student as our highest priority. You will be taught by leading scholars from both India and from around the world, gurus in their respective
fields. You will learn from some of the best people in industry, who will share not just their knowledge but also their rich experience. Little
wonder then, that the latest Outlook Business School rankings place us among the top 5 private business schools in the country, among several
well-known older, more well-established ones. We are growing fast in stature and reputation.

We provide an excellent array of co-curricular activities, that keep student engagement at the highest levels, and provide multiple opportunities
to grow and develop a dynamic personality. The Great Lakes campus in Chennai offers an ambience that is a sylvan oasis of green. It is certified
as a top-rated eco-friendly campus with state-of-the-art facilities. You cannot help being inspired to learn in this environment. You cannot help
but dream. Dream on. We are here to help you realize what’s on your mind.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING
Great Lakes emphasizes on experiential learning, whether it involves developing leadership
and managerial skills, honing strong analytical skills, understanding and analyzing business
cases, or dealing with capital markets. The end result is a business-ready manager who is
sensitized to the needs of the organization as well as the society.

The Art of Leadership blends with the

Science of Management
BUSINESS IS FOR REAL - THE EMPIRICAL STUDY
Empirical study provides a platform for students to become business-ready managers by enabling them to do a real life study under the
guidance of the best people from the industry and academia. The most practical benefit of empirical study is that one learns how to actually
persuade and convince others - by culling out relevant information, gathering and analyzing data; and presenting the output to support one's
stand. In the past, some of the empirical studies have been presented in national and international conferences.

STUDENT COMMITTEES
Being a student centric institute, all key functions of the institute are ably supported by committed student bodies - be it admissions,
placements, web management or branding.

LEADERSHIP EXPERIENTIAL ACTION PROGRAM: KARMA-YOGA

KARMA-YOGA, a Leadership Experiential Action Program (LEAP) is a unique medium for students to connect with ground realities and
experientially learn transformational leadership.

27 villages surrounding the institute's campus have been adopted by Great Lakes for the LEAP. The project creates a mutual win-win situation
for both the students and the villages - while the villages get budding managers to enable the villagers to elevate themselves into their better
selves, the students acquire a first-hand understanding of what it means to create followers and transform them. LEAP is a real life practical lab
to learn and experience the power of transformational leadership with the key focus on education, health, agriculture and small business.

DEAR STUDENTS,

Teachers need to stop saying, 'Hand it in' and start saying 'Publish It'.

- Alan November, Educator & Author of "Empowering Students with Technology"

Business is moving from a man-to-man interaction world to a man-to-machine interaction world. Our machines are taught to replicate and if
possible improve human interpretative skills. Associations and causations are getting identified by machines in the emerging world of
unsupervised learning. When Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is redefining the business landscape, can business schools be far
behind? It is in this context that the Alan November quote mentioned above starts making sense. Schools at the teaching-learning level ought to
blend technology-driven learning into the curriculum such that the students seamlessly integrate various facets of modern technology into their
everyday learning. Great Lakes Institute of Management is a pioneering B-School in this regard and its achievements speak for itself.

• First B-School to offer Business Analytics as a full-fledged major since 2013

• First B-School to offer AIMLA [combination of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning] as a major since 2018

• First B-School in South Asia to have a LEED Platinum Rated Green Campus

• First B-School to offer Mandarin as a course

• Among pioneers in introducing One-Year MBA in India

As the school's Admissions Director, it is my duty to keep the new generation of aspirants updated on what all is new in the school's academic
menu. At the same time, you may rest assured that the traditional menu is still intact! Multi-level interactive learning, cross-pollination of
ideations, wide networking possibilities, rich academic and industry mentoring, experiential learning through events like Paisa Vasool, intense
case study driven pedagogy — all these integrate with an excellent technology, analytics and machine learning environment to make you
rigorous and relevant for many years to come.

Welcome to Great Lakes Institute of Management!

If I were to attribute one reason to the astounding success the students of this college have achieved
over the last decade – it is the faculty. A typical day of a Great Lakes professor consists of simulating
the students’ minds with both their intellect and humour, ensuring that the class is not a place for a
