    Dogs Are the Best Pets
    Dogs, a man's best friend. The only question is why? Unlike other pets' dogs hold a sense

    of friendship one cannot hold with other humans or animals. For thousands of years dogs have

    been around people doing different tasks and helping improve their everyday lives. Dogs are the

    best pet because they are good for multiple tasks, obedient, and can help improve health.

    First off, dogs have a keen sense of smell, good eyesight, and sensitive hearing. All these

    traits add up to make dogs the perfect pet and for becoming a working dog. Not all dogs are fit

    for the same working tasks. For example, German shepherds are better for military and police

    use whereas beagles are fit for being drug dogs and hunting dogs (Spruce Pets). Dogs protect us

    from thieves, fires, and any other type of possible danger. Even though the constant barking at

    random noises can be annoying, they can alert us if anything is wrong or out of place.

    Alongside dogs, other pets are considered the best pets. For example, cats are comforting

    and easy to care of for they don’t need to run, no need to go outside on a regular basis, and

    exceptionally limited maintenance. Cats do use an inside litter box, and for that could smell up

    the house for days, while dogs use the bathroom outside so smell and clean up aren’t an issue.

    Some would agree that cats are the best pets for these reasons, however, cats are lazy and

    destructive animals. Dogs are active and helpful pets, if trained, they can be helpful around the

    house and even in the working area.

    Secondly, recent research studies have shown health benefits in dog owners, including

    having lower blood pressure compared to non-dog owners. Dogs encourage their owners to get

    out and be active, whether it be a long walk or a game of fetch. Alongside the owner, children

    who are exposed to dogs at a young age are less likely to developing allergies as adults (NBC).

    Dogs also understand the pain and emotions of people and react to comfort them. In a study of

    eighteen dogs it was found that when the owner fake-cried fifteen of the dogs rushed to their

    owner to give them comfort (Live Science). Cats do not have the same type of emotional range

    that dogs do, they have no concern for the well-being of others or other animals.

    On the other hand, cats and other pets can go days without their owner they live a

    independent life other than getting food. Dogs are dependent on their owners not only for food

    and walks but for social and emotional concerns. For a person who isn’t home often a cat or

    small animal would be the better choice, however when the owner comes home the cat won't

    come running in excitement. A dog's positive attitude can improve the attitude of the owner

    whereas a cat's mood doesn’t change as drastically.

    In all, dogs are the best pet because they are good for multiple tasks, obedient, and can

    help improve health. It is solely the owner's decision to get whatever pet makes them happy,

    however, if the person is looking for a pet who can perform multiple tasks such as preventing

    danger, obedient, and can help improve the health of those around it, a dog is the best choice.

    Dogs provide the best emotional output in humans with their constant support and energy to keep

    the humans happy and active.
