SUBJECTIVE QUESTIONS
1. Two charged particles having charges of different magnitude when placed at a distance d from each other experiences
a force of attraction F. These two particles are put in contact and again placed at same distance from each other –
(i) What is nature of new force between them?
(ii) Is the magnitude of the force of interaction between them, now more or less than F?

charges.

found positively charged and repel each other with a force of 0.576 N when the wire is removed. Find.

4. A small sphere with a charge of 2.44 C is attached to a released horizontal spring whose force constant is 89.2 N/m.
The spring extendes along X-axis and the sphere rests on a frictionless surface with its centre at origin. A point charge
of charge – 8.55 C is now moved slowly from infinity to a point x = d {d > 0} on the X-axis. This causes small sphere
to move to position x = 0.124 m. Find the value of d.
5. Give the answer of the following with explanation.
(i) An electrically neutral object is given a positive charge. Does the mass of object increase, decrease or remain same.
(ii) An insulating sphere of radius R has a uniform surface charge density . A point charge of magnitude q is at a
distance of 4 R from centre. Force on q exerted by sphere is F. If insulating sphere is replaced by a conducting sphere
of same size and same charge. Does the force increase, decrease or remain same.
(iii) An electron and a proton are released from rest in space. The particles move towards each other, due to their
mutual electrical attraction. The kinetic energy of the electron at greater than, less than or equal to the kinetic energy
of the proton, when they collide?
