Wallasalki guide

------------------------------------
Introduction-------------------------
Hello! Many people ask me what a good way to collect blue charms is. There are some
ways like tormented demons which can give 30+ blue charms an hour. There are also
quite a few monsters that drop blue charms roughly 5-10% of the time. This will teach
you a unique way to collect blue charms that I discovered. This method of blue charm
collecting involves cannoning Wallasalki in the Waterbirth Island dungeon. I'm not very
good at long introductions so here goes...

--------------------Basic Info and

Requirements--------------------------
As mentioned above, the monster you will be killing is the Wallasalki, and fat walrus-
like creature located in Waterbirth dungeon. If you didn't know, the Wallasalki uses
magic to attack its opponents. The max hit with its magic attack is around 25, which
combined with the fact that it is a multi-combat area, makes it required to use prayer to
survive.

Since Waterbirth basically represents the combat triangle, and Wallasalki are magic-
users, they are VERY weak to ranged attacks. They have a decent drop rate of
charms, and dish out charms in every color making them great for charms, if you
cannon them with a rune crossbow.

Here are the requirements I suggest to do this process effectively:

75+ Ranged (so you can hit them)

75+ Hitpoints (in case you run out of prayer)
50+ Prayer (to make better use of your prayer potions)
58+ summoning (to use a decent familiar and to make good use of the charms you
get)

--------------------------Equipment
Setup--------------------------------
So since you will be ranging with a cannon, along with praying against mage, you will
need a good mix of ranged attack bonus with prayer bonus. Your equipment should
look something like this:

Head: Armadyl Helmet>Helm of Neitiznot>Archer Helm.

Cape: Ava's Device to save bolts.
Amulet: Fury>Glory>Ranging>God Stole.
Quiver: Broad Bolts>Adamant Bolts>Mithril Bolts.
Weapon: Rune Crossbow.
Top: Monk's Robe>Armadyl>Black D'hide.
Bottom: Armadyl>Black D'hide>Monk's bottom.
Shield: Unholy Book>Falador Shield 3.
Gloves: Barrows>Regen>Combat Brace.
Boots: Ranger>Snakeskin>Bandos.
Ring: Archer>Life.

Your inventory only really needs a cannon with prayer potions and cannonballs. This is
the inventory I use:

Cannon Set (4 spaces)

Cannonballs (1-5k)
Escape Teleport
6 Food (for getting there)
10-16 Prayer Potions
A summoning pouch.
-----------------------Strategy and
Location-----------------------------
As mentioned above, Wallasalki are located in Waterbirth dungeon. You will need
another person to get to the spot that I suggest using so if you don't have a friend that
wants to go, just ask someone picking snape grass on the isle. There are several ways
to get to the isle:

Using Waterbirth teleport (Lunar Magics)

Sailing from Relleka
Using a lyre (Fremmenik Diary 3)

I cannot really tell you how to get through the dungeon to the spot, but look on a map if
you need to. Basically the room you want to be in is the small room with 5 Wallasalki
before the Giant Rock Crabs. Set up your cannon and let it rip, drinking prayer potions
when you need to. Remember to pray MAGE. When you run out of prayer potions, go
to the bank.

---------------------------The
Drops-------------------------------------
The drops of the Wallasalki will pretty much pay for your cannonballs usually,
depending on your levels. Sometimes you even make a small profit! The drops you will
want to pick up are:

Skeletal Gloves
Skeletal Boots
Fibula Piece
Ribcage Piece
Skull Piece
Ranarr Seed
Snapdragon Seed
Water Runes
Blood Runes
Death Runes
Chaos Runes
Maybe the other runes
All charms of course

If you are having trouble with your inventory space, juggle your drops, it could be
helpful to bring a BoB but I like combat familiars better here.
----------------------------Small
Tips-----------------------------------
Use Void ranged if you have it.

Don't let your cannon do all the work, shoot them like your cannon isn't there.

Everyone will need a slightly different inventory, adjust it to make it better.

Don't let your prayer run out.

If you aren't using Ava's Device, pick up your bolts.

Once they stop being aggressive, get them aggressive by going backwards.

Don't wait for your cannon to run out before you reload. Reload every once in a while
to avoid the delay.

Take Ranging potions if you have below 80 Ranged.

If you think you have a decent prayer level, don't fill your inventory with prayer potions,
because you will need space for drops.

-------------------------------
Conclusion---------------------------------------
Well you have it! It may not be the most profitable way of getting charms, but you will
get them fast. The charms you get here per hour are worth more exp than at
waterfiends. I hope you enjoyed the guide, and if you have any questions just post
here.

-------------------------------------
FAQ's-------------------------------
What is the charm gain per hour?
The charm gain is about 25-40 of each charm per hour, including blue ones.

How much ranged exp do you get per hour?

This depends on your level. At 85 Ranged with a cannon, and the recommended set
up, I get anywhere from 75-100k exp per hour.

Will I lose money?

Probably yes. Some of the drops are hard to sell, but you won't lose nearly as much as
Rock Lobsters. 300k per trip max and that is only if you are VERY unlucky.

Why don't you include other ranged weapons?

I have tried all bows and darts, and I can say that the Rune Crossbow is best for exp.
and money. If you want, you could use Iron darts which are almost as good, but you
will lose more money.

Why can't you melee them?

Since they are mages, they have naturally high melee defence. It's much more
effective to range.

What if I don't use a cannon?

You will earn profit, but you will only get 5-10 blue charms per hour at most, so keep
that in mind.

How long does each trip last?

Depends on how many prayer potions you bring. My longest trips last around 2 hours.

What if I don't use Protect from Magic?

You will die a horrible and swift death

Can I do this with my stats?

Look at the requirements.
