NARRATIVE REPORT ON NATIONAL READING MONTH CELEBRATION

(SLOGAN MAKING CONTEST)
Slogan Making Contest was the other activity held in line with the Celebration of the National
Reading Month in Malaking Pulo National High School last November 17, 2015. The objectives of the
said activity were to boost the ability of the participants in flowering words with the theme “Nasa
Pagbasa ang Pag-asa” and also to enhanced their talents in art designing.
26 students were interested and joined the competition but unfortunately our Judge, Ms.
Rhealyn M. Ortega (Grade 9 Adviser) has to pick only the top three. Meara T. Rocha (Grade 7) won
the 3rd Place; Angelo G. Tuiza (Grade 8) took the 2nd Place; and Jaren Rave D. Manaig (Grade 7) got
the 1st Place.
The English Club Advisers and Officers took the lead for this well done activity.

(ESSAY WRITING CONTEST)
Essay Writing Contest was the first activity held in line with the Celebration of the National
Reading Month in Malaking Pulo National High School last November 16, 2015.The objectives of the
said activity were to expressed the true emotions of the participant about the theme, “Nasa Pagbasa
ang Pag-asa” with their own way of writing an essay.
Only 4 students joined the competition. April Joy R. Barila (Grade 8) got the 3 rd Place;
Jackielyn N. Ilagan took the 2nd Place; and Princess Angeleen P. Atienza won the 1 st Place. Mrs.
Madinah T. Rodriguez (Grade 7-Adviser) was the assigned judge for the activity.

(POEM WRITING CONTEST)
Poem Writing Contest was the second activity held in line with the Celebration of the National
Reading Month in Malaking Pulo National High School last November 16, 2015. One of the aims of
the activity was for the participants to improve their talents in writing a poem in their own ways with
the theme “Nasa Pagbasa ang Pag asa.”
Mrs. Mylene M. Lalap (Grade 10 Adviser) the assigned judge chose the top three from 11
contestants. The winners were Jorjo Bejar (Grade 10), Zenaida Sapinoso (Grade 8) and Jackielyn N.
Ilagan (Grade 10).

(POSTER MAKING CONTEST)
Poster Making Contest was held in line with Celebration of the National Reading Month in
Malaking Pulo National High School last November 17, 2015. This contest aims to lift the talents of
the participants by elaborating the theme “Nasa Pagbasa ang Pag asa” using their imagination in
drawing.
Explaining the topic by means of sketching was a little bit hard for them but at the end, our
Judge Ms. Pamela Shayne M. Avila (Grade 7 Adviser) successfully selected the 3 winners. Those
were Princess Angeleen P. Atienza (Grade 10), Mark Lester Maunahan (Grade 10) and Franzes Mica
Ella G. Garcia (Grade 9).

(SPELLING BEE)
Spelling Bee was held in line with the Celebration of the National Reading Month in Malaking
Pulo National High School last November 18, 2015. The goal of this competition was for the
participants to learn more on spelling in English.
The said contest was open for all the students that wanted to test their ability in Spelling and
fortunately 25 students joined. Grade De Villa (Grade 8-Responsibility) got the third place while the
2nd Place was John Dale Battung (Grade 10-Discipline) and 1 st Place was Iziz Ace Narvaez who was
from the same section of John Dale.

(SCRABBLE)
Scrabble was held in line with Celebration of the National Reading Month in Malaking Pulo
National High School last November 18, 2015. The purpose of the contest was for the participants to
enjoy while learning words that they didn’t know yet.
Every section has to choose 2 representatives per section. At exactly 1 pm, the game started
and every 30 minutes your opponent will be changed. At the end, Jemuel Mangilin (Grade 9) got the
highest score, next was Joshua Algara (Grade 9) and the last was Angelo Rodriguez(Grade 7).

(DECLAMATION)
Declamation was held in line with Celebration of the National Reading Month in Malaking Pulo
National High School last November 24, 2015. This competition intends to boost the talents of the
participants in acting while speaking with theirselves.
Princess Angeleen P. Atienza got the 1st Place and recieved advices from the three judges,
Sir Vicente Ambalong Jr., Mrs. Gladys R. Biscocho and Mrs. Luisa D. Vispo.

(SPEECH CHOIR)
Speech Choir Contest was held in line with Celebration of the National Reading Month in
Malaking Pulo National High School last November 27, 2015. One of the objectives was for the
students to show their unity in their performance.
The competition was joined by Grade 7-9 that presents an unexpected show which makes it
hard for the judges to choose the best. Latterly, Grade 8 got the crown for the contest.

(READING CAMPAIGN)
Campaign for Reading was the last contest held which is called ‘Twerk it Read it’ in line with
Celebration of the National Reading Month in Malaking Pulo National High School last November 27,
2015. The purpose of the competition was for the students to learn the unity while creating a dance
number with a twist of presentation that shows campaign for reading. It took them hard but it turns out
to be a meaningful presentation.

(NATIONWIDE SYNCHRONIZED STORY READING TIME IN ENGLISH AND FILIPINO)
In line with the Celebration of National Reading Month is the Nationwide Synchronized Story
Reading Time in English and Filipino that happened last November 27, 2015 at exactly 9 AM. Each
section from Grade 7-10 has given a piece of story to read.
