1. Introduction
This document describes configuration and integration procedure how to perform create DCN over
VLAN in Mini-link. MINI-LINK TN uses a dedicated DCN VLAN for communication to the DCN core
(Metro-E or GPON).
1.2 Pre-Requisite
2. Description
For DCN over VLAN management traffic is carried in-band between LAN, WAN, and the management
port of the MINI-LINK node. To separate the management traffic from user traffic, a dedicated VLAN
is used, which contains a VLAN ID (VID) and a VLAN Tag Protocol Identifier (TPID). The same VID
and TPID must be used in all equipment in the same network. Static routes can be used for nodes
acting as intermediate gateways between networks running PPP and networks running in-band DCN.

In the case of a big hybrid network based on MINI-LINK TN, MINI-LINK LH, MINI-LINK CN 210/510 R1,
and MINI-LINK CN 510 R2, DCN over PPP is recommended inside the microwave network and DCN over
VLAN can be used for interconnection to other networks. For all other types of networks, DCN over VLAN
is recommended.
The recommendation is to use DCN over VLAN attending new Ethernet traffic and new modulation
schemes in Telkom IP. In addition, even we will be using user capacity for management network (BW
sharing), the bandwidth will be enough, and the insolation DCN-User traffic will be implemented by a
VLAN ID. We will be avoiding a lot of L3 routing traffic on end-to-end connection and using quickly L2
ways to reach de desired node.

3. Procedure
Please follow the below steps to Configure DCN over VLAN the Mini-link :
1. Login to the MLTN craft and Open MINI-LINK Craft, In The Basic NE fill IP address NE, NE
Host Subnet Mask and Default Gateway as below following ATND Planning DCN :
2. Enabling DCN over VLAN First, the DCN over VLAN feature should be enabled by using the
following steps:
c. Connect to Port Switch idle and Assign a switch port for LAN-DCN and save the changes.

3. In Management Tree, expand the Ethernet and the Ethernet switch, select the assigned ports
for the logical and the physical DCN ports and select configure, set the port role to UNI on both
assigned switch ports.
4. Assign VLAN ID for DCN as following Planning, In Management Tree, select Ethernet Switch ,
Right Click and then Configure select VLAN.
Click add row to add a new VLAN , select the required switch ports, enter a name to tag the
VLAN. Assign VLAN ID as per design, in Unregistered Multicast use the default value Forward.
And Untagged Ports DCN-LAN
5. Make sure Mini-link connection already connected to SO-EM Telkom with ping from Mini-link to
IP 192.168.255.11
