1 INTRODUCTION

WEB Solution for Tachograph files download. Teltonika Tacho WEB Solution is a big
forward leap in remote tachograph data files download. Solution is easily manageable and does
not require any complex software* installation. Everything is accessible via web page. Now you
can download tachograph files from any place and from any PC via internet access.

FMB640 device has a possibility to connect to Web Tacho IP every 1 hour and check if there
are any schedules for downloading DDD files. If FMB640 connects to Web tacho server, and there
is a planned schedule but other device is already downloading and company card is in use, device
keeps link with Web Tacho server but still sends data to main server with AVL data. After
successful download, device closes link with Web Tacho and reconnects after 1 hour. Data is
stored on secured server and can be accessed only by your authorized users. You don't need to
worry that any file is lost and you have to download is from tachograph once again.

2 SUPPORTED TACHOGRAPHS AND FORMATS

Web platform supports not only the standard DDD file extension, but also Spanish TGD and
French V1B, C1B file formats. You simply set required one in Web Tacho user settings.

2.1 Checking Version of Tachograph

FMB640 devices can read tachograph data. User can connect FM to vehicle unit tachograph
device. Supported devices are: Siemens VDO Digital Tachograph – DTCO 1381 (release 1.3a, 1.4
or later) and Stoneridge Tachograph – SE5000 (release 7.1 or later). Version can be checked on
tachograph or in cheque as shown in pictures below.

3 CONNECTING TO TACHOGRAPH

Connection to tachograph (Figure 1):

• Before connecting tachograph wires, it is required to measure CAN line resistance

while tachograph is switched off:
• Turn off the vehicle ignition;
• Measure resistance between the C5 (CAN2 H) and C7 (CAN2 L) contacts;
• If the multimeter shows ~120 Ohms, skip the next step;
• If the multimeter shows kilo Ohms resistance then it is needed to connect
tachograph C8 (CAN-RES) and C7 (CAN2 L) contacts with wire and then perform
further actions;
• Re-measure the resistance of the line – it has to be ~120 Ohms.
• Connect CAN2 L and CAN2 H wires to tachograph (C5 (CAN2 H) and C7 (CAN2
L))
• All of the same level CAN-L and CAN-H wires must be interlaced with each other.

• CAN wires need to be installed as far as possible from GSM antenna.

4 CHECKING CONNECTION (TACHOCHECK SMS)

After successful connection “tachocheck” sms message can be sent to device for checking if
data presented on connected lines, by another words if connections were done correctly. It is
used for getting status information. SMS response is of such structure:

CAN_2:[TRC],[ABCD], K-Line:[K]

[T] – Tachograph presence on bus:

• 0 – Tachograph doesn’t respond on bus;

• 1 – Tachograph responds on bus.
[R] – Response to Open Remote Session validity check:

• 0 – Wrong or unknown response (failed to open Remote Session);

• 1 – Tachograph responds positively (Remote Session opened successfully).
[C] – Response to Close Last Authentication Session validity check:

• 0 – Wrong or unknown response (failed to close last authentication session);

• 1 – Last authentication session closed successfully, device is ready to open
new authentication session.
[K] – K-Line data presence on bus:

• 0 – K-Line data not present on bus;

• 1 – K-Line data present on bus.

 [ABCD] – FMS data presence on bus:

• 0000 – FMS data not present on bus

• Non-zero – FMS data detected on bus.

SMS answer which shows correct line connections looks like “CAN_2:[111],[ABCD], K-Line:[K]”.
Such SMS answer means DDD files can be downloaded from tachograph.

5 CONFIGURING DEVICE

In FMB640 configurator “External devices” section tachograph settings should be set in

order to download files.

DDD download source – to which CAN line tachograph is connected;

Tachograph ignition source – which DIN is connected to vehicle ignition ("Ignition"
parameter - tachograph ignition source will be the same as configured in "System" ->
"Ignition Source");
TACHO web enable – functionality enabling;
TACHO web domain – server domain where files will be send;
TACHO web port – server port where files will be send;
TACHO web start delay – delay after turning on ignition to start procedure of file sending.

6 WEB TACHO

Teltonika WEB Tacho Solution is a big forward leap in remote tachograph data files
download. Solution is easily manageable and does not require any complex software*
installation. Everything is accessible via a web page.

6.1 Preparing company card

Company card, which will be used for remote DDD files download, must be registered in
desired tachograph. Usually if direct download was made using some particular company card,
then this card is registered in tachograph. PC with connected company card should be reachable
all time.
To make fully functioning WEB Tacho, there should be server or any PC with internet
connection and connected company card. Only then tachograph may authorize and upload
tachograph files to server.

To connect company card to WEB Tacho, “Remote SCard Reader” should be used, which will be
given by sales representative.

Installation Guide:
Install the “Remote SCard Reader” on this PC.
Step 1 - Launch installer application “Remote SCard Reader.exe”
Step 2 - Press “Install” (1)
Step 3 - Wait for installation to complete
Step 4 - Close installation.

If card reader is connected and company card is inserted – you should see following view:

Copy Card ID and register in Web Tacho (view chapter 7).

Here are the possible conditions of Company card shown in reader:

Gray - Company card is not inserted
Red - Unable to read Card ID, inappropriate or broken Card.
Yellow - Company card ID read, waiting for authorization from server.
Green - Company card ID is read and authorized.
Blue - Shows using what FM device(IMEI) company card is communicating with tachograph.

6.2 Registering company card

Use information provided by sales manager to login in Web Tacho. After log in, register
company card in your account.

In Web Tacho select “Company Card Management ” section (Figure 4 a) and click "Add"
(Figure 4 b) to register a company card. Enter Card ID which is copied before (explained in
chapter 6) and enter in “Identificator” field and choose the valid period. If you have more than
one card, comment can be added for easier monitoring.

6.3 Registering Vehicle

Vehicle section is main window of objects control, which provides ability to add vehicles,
monitor and download files and observe schedule status changes.

In Web Tacho “Vehicles” section (Figure 5 a) press “Add New Vehicle” button (Figure 5 b)
to register new vehicle.

In pop up window (Figure 6) fill information about vehicle and press save. Fields in red is
mandatory.

‘Vehicle’ - Name of vehicle, that will be displayed (Mandatory);

‘Comment’ - Enter a comment (Optional);
‘IMEI’ - Device IMEI (Mandatory);
‘GSM Number’ - SIM card GSM number (Optional - Not used for FMB640);
‘Hardware Key’ - Not used for FMB640;
‘SMS login and password’ - Enter SMS login and password (Optional - Not used for FMB640);
‘APN’ - Type an APN (Optional - Not used for FMB640);

6.4 Creating Schedule

Go to “Download Schedule” section (Figure 7 a). Select necessary object (Figure 7 b) (which
you created before) and press “Add New Schedule” (Figure 7 c).

In an opened window (Figure 7) you can also choose vehicle (leave selected before or
change to another) for which the schedule will be created, data types, download period and due
date will be set.

‘Tachograph data’ - General tachograph information;
‘Activities’ - Driver work day report;
‘Events and Faults’ - Detailed Events and Faults information;
‘Detailed Speed’ - Speed sorted by date and time (in hours);
‘Technical Data ‘ - Tachograph technical information;
‘Driver Cards Data’ - Driver information with detailed work report.

Once you create a schedule, selected tachograph files will be downloaded automatically. Data
will be downloaded every defined period, for example once a week, once a month etc.

6.5 Download tahograph files

To download Tachograph files to Your PC in Web Tacho select “Tachograph files” section
(Figure 9 a). There will be shown all downloaded tahograph files. Tachograph files can be filtered
by date (Figure 9 b) and vehicle (Figure 9 c).

After select tahograph file which need to download, press download button (Figure 9 d) to
download files in *.DDD format or press another button (Figure 9 e) to download files in *.zip
archive.

6.6 History

In Web Tacho You can see a history of status changes of the vehicle. In Web Tacho select
“History” section. There will appear all history of status change. History can be filtered by date
(Figure 10 b) and vehicle (Figure 10 c).

7 COMPLETE SOLUTION
After all steps checked and solution setup is completed. Your devices will connect to WEB Tacho
platform upload required tachograph files, platform will upload all your files to defined location
ether it is Email or FTP. In general if everything configured correctly, Teltonika tacho solution will
work automated and no additional manual work is needed.
