Nationalism in Indonesia
• Indonesia was formerly known as the Dutch East Indies
• Indo Malay world was composed of small kingdom
• The catalyst for this transformation was the ethical policy
• Education is gained access to a variety of occupation in modern economy
• Started movement and organizations.
• Sarekat islam, focused on culture and trade
• Achmed Sukarno excellent poet, established the national party of Indonesia
• June 1, 1945 Indonesian was introduced to the concept of Pancasila
• September 2, 1945 japanese officially surrender to allied forces
• August 17, 1945, proclaimed the independence of Indonesia from dutch.
• 1950, Dutch Finally left Indonesia through they still maintained control of west
Iran

Nationalism in Vietnam
• Vietnam has the longest history of struggle of independence
• Western colonialism, the evils and hardships brought about French rule
• Continued to remain poor and without rights and freedom.
• Ho Chi Minh founded the Indochinese communist Party
• Ho and his allies founded the viet minh, an alliance of various guerilla groups in
Vietnam.
• 1945, Japan surrendered to the allied forces
• September 2, 1945, gathered in the City of Hanoi and proclaimed the
independence of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Nationalism in Burma
• Nationalist movement in Burma had religious and cultural roots.
• Young Men’s Buddhist association was forerunners of the nationalist movement.
• Thankin Movement significant force in Burma.
• Anti-Fascist People’s Freedom League (AFPFL) the headed of the under control
of the nationalist group.

Nationalism in Siam

inaugurated.

• 1941, Japanese occupied the Philippines.
• 1943, Japanese declared the Philippines independent nation.
