Project DroneTech will provide the drone technology to Wilmont’s to launch the concept
Description of delivering prescriptions and drugstore items by flying drone.
Project Purpose The purpose of the project is to build a prototype drone technology as well as the
drone piloting, delivery systems and business process which will be
customized to conform to Wilmont’s requirements. The drone deliveries will lead
to enhancements to Wilmont’s already top‐quality delivery processes for
customers. This project will lead to a successful long-term relationship of
DroneTech with Wilmont’s.
Scope/ • In this project DroneTech will work with IT systems team to customize its
boundaries systems, interfaces, and business process to conform to project
requirements from Wilmont’s.
• DroneTech will handle piloting the drones and delivery of the products by
customizing the processes that handle order entry, delivery confirmation,
and a mobile app on the DroneTech side.
• DroneTech will work with Wilmont’s Information Security Management
Team to ensure security of Wilmont’s business information, the customer’s
privacy, and the proprietary information.
• DroneTech will identify and implement necessary modifications to the
drone flight operations.
• DroneTech will do Testing, quality control and provision for issues that may
develop.
• DroneTech will provide the four participating pharmacies with all the
information needed on the drone delivery technology and User training.
This prototype project does not include any on-going maintenance of the flying
drones being used for delivery nor does it include an obligation to use any
particular technology, manufacturer or vendor. The project Does not include
salvage of the drones at the end of the completion to defray costs. New Drone
Procurement: Each new delivery drone will cost $18,034.00. DroneTech will supply
only four of these which are included in the project budget to Wilmont’s for the
purpose of the prototype project.
Requirements • For the project to be successful, Wilmont’s should be able to
accommodate operating this prototype system within their existing
infrastructure that handles customer orders.
• Assistance and cooperation from Wilmont’s will be required for the
customization of DroneTech’s systems, interfaces, and business process to
conform to project requirements.
Deliverables/O Objectives Success criteria
bjective IT systems and Processes should be able
interfaces redesign to handle order entry, delivery confirmation, and a mobile ap
p on the DroneTech side.
Communications about deliveries for Wilmont’s customers
sent
electronically through email, online, and through mobile aler
ts as the customer requests.
Customize Security Security of Wilmont’s business information, the customer’s p
process rivacy and the proprietary information is not compromised.
Modified Temperature
drone flight sensitive or breakable items are not affected by the
Oprations drone delivery process
Testing issues are resolved and the new package release systems
work reliably
Training All pharmacies can deliver orders easily by drones
Schedule The project begins next January 5 and the first customer delivery flight
should take place no later than November 30
Budget Maximum $750,000
Assumptions 1. This project must not go higher than $750,000 budget
and constraints 2. The project is tight on schedule and must be completed by November 30.
Risks 1. The IT group doesn’t have enough resources to implement the new
system.
2. Wilmont’s pharmacies don’t support the project because they feel they
don’t have time to learn a new delivery system.
3. The overall actual cost exceeds available funding/planned budget
4. Success criteria for several project objectives can’t be confirmed until
several months after the processes and system are operational.
Summary • Processes Redesign complete
milestone • New System Specification complete
• Contract Signed
• Development completed
• System configured
• Process and system documentation complete
• Training complete
