Accounting is a technique used to record, report and analyze financial whether for personal or for
company use. In a single glance, accounting might not be related to the career that based on computer
science. But, actually there are some are area that might need the IT graduate to have some basic in
accounting.
Nowadays, most of the accounting is done computerized. Whether for recording, creating report and
analyze financial stats. Information technology in accounting often enables companies to set up
automated accounting information systems. These systems gather and process data electronically
through the use of computers, servers, workstations and intranets. Most companies also use an
accounting software application or package.
Computerized accounting systems have also improved the functionality of accounting departments by
increasing the timeliness of accounting information. By improving the timeliness of financial
information, accountants can prepare reports and operations analyses that give management an
accurate picture of current operations. The number of financial reports has also been improved by
computerized systems; cash flow statements, departmental profit and loss, and market share reports
are now more accessible with computerized systems.

security area they might needed to ensure that the company information is safe from intruder. Account
is the company core, any information leak or worse modification that happens on the company account
might affect the company greatly.
By learning account, student can be prepared if they want to build their own company. Of course they
can just hired an accountant as an employee, but as the manager, they also need to have some
knowledge in business area and the most basic for business is how to manage their company financial. If
they don’t know how to manage the company financial, the expenses for the company might be higher
than what it should have. By learning accounting, they know how to keep the company expenses on
minimum level while gaining the profit in its maximum.
The bottom line is, even though accountings seem significant in IT profession but the truth is it gives a
big advantage for those who can master it. Furthermore, by having an extra knowledge for accounting in
addition to their capability in IT sector, it will increase their value when they go for job hunting.
