1. INTRODUCTION

Section B describes the physical installation of the CT AURA. This includes:

- Unpacking.
- Siting.

These installation instructions assume that the scanner room has been prepared as described in the
Philips CT Aura Planning Reference Manual.
The Planning Reference Manual (PRM) contains all the information that is necessary to prepare the
installation of a Philips CT Aura. It describes items like room layout, room construction requirements,
power requirements, radiation safety, insulation etc.
This PRM must be used to insure a proper preparation for installation.

2. TIME / TOOLS / MATERIALS REQUIRED

Installation of a CT AURA requires two engineers for a period of three days. Prerequisite is a properly
prepared scannerroom.

All mounting hardware necessary for installation (except standard tools) is delivered with the system.
Mains cable, doorswitch and/or external X-ray ON indicator (including necessary wiring) must be
provided locally.

Tools, necessary to install and/or maintain the CT AURA are listed below: 12NC
(Not part of the system delivery)
• Transport kit 4522 501 52341
• Printer test tool 4522 980 38563
• Monitor adjustment tool 4522 980 38584
• Template gantry & table 4522 501 52541

• Service PC
• DSS + Electronic documentation 4522 210 42204
• Standard toolkit
• Electrostatic discharge (ESD) kit

Transport kit, printer test tool, monitor adjustment tool and the templates can be shared for several
systems.

Power cables can be cut to length if wanted. Cable tags and a set of labels is delivered with the
system, however the tools to attach the cable tags must be supplied locally.

Since the crates, in which the system is packed, contain quite some screws an electrical screwdriver is
advised.

3. DELIVERY INFORMATION

3.1. SHOCK INDICATORS

The four major component assemblies of the CT AURA (gantry, patient table, operator’s console and
isolator rectifier) are packed for transport via truck, air or rail. Each container is equipped with shock
indicators.
Shock indicators must be checked before the crates are unloaded from the truck in order to define
responsibilities in case of damage to the system.
NOTE

If a shock indicator is tripped:

• make a note on the waybill
• let the transporter countersign

During unpacking gantry and patient table are rolled off their pallets via a ramp. This procedure
requires at least 4.5 m (15 feet) floorspace in addition to the footprint of the respective pallets.

3.3. TRANSPORTATION

Check the transport route for the equipment from the receiving area to the installation area with
respect to the size of:
- Doors
- Passage ways
- Ramps
- Elevators
Take into account the size of moving equipment. If an elevator is to be used, check its weight handling
capabilities.

The minimum required door width is 92cm (3 ft), in this case the passage width must be 230 cm (7.5 ft)
in order to manoeuvre the gantry through the door.
The minimum required passage width is 150 cm (5 ft), in this case the door width must be 150 cm(5 ft

4. UNPACKING & SITING GANTRY AND TABLE

4.1. INTRODUCTION

Since both, table and gantry use the same set of transport wheels, unpacking and siting is one,
combined operation.
First the gantry is sited then the table as described in keywords in chapter 4.4.

4.2. PREPARATION

See that a qualified expert makes a radiation protection survey

The table must be secured to the floor. A template, indicating the position of the holes, is delivered
with the system. (In table crate)

To prevent dirt and damage the crates should be unpacked outside the scanner room. It is highly
recommended to have help from professional movers during unpacking and carrying-in the equipment
into the hospital.

The operators console and isolator/rectifier do not require a specific unpack procedure, the
unpackprocedure for gantry and patient table is described below.

4.3. PACKING LIST

Crate 1: Gantry.
Crate 2: Patient table, installation kit, and template.
Crate 3: Cables, service tools, and covers.
Crate 4: Isolator rectifier.
Crate 5: Operator console (Back-end) components and cables.
Cardboard crate: Operator console (Back-end) Table and patient table isolation kit.
Miscellaneous boxes: Chair, modem, modem cable and patient accessories.

The packing list is attached to the gantry crate.

After unpacking a check for the delivery completeness must be done.

• Connect the analog Remote Service Modem to the serial port A of the Scan Control. The power
can be connected to the hospital mains (if the modem is delivered with a 110V adapter) or to the
power distribution unit (only for 230 Volts adapter!)

Regarding Physical planning and installation, the following basic issues must be taken into account:

• The location of the modem and related cable routing to telephone network and system.
• Because some types of hospital switchboards may cause problems in the application of modem
connections, we recommend to check whether a direct line to the public telephone network is
required.
CAUTION

Be sure that the input voltage for the remote service modem is correct.
(See modem for correct input voltage).
