SECTION 1

INTRODUCTION

1.1 USE AND FUNCTION

The ND 4 / 8 / 12 Water Distillers are designed to provide distilled water which is needed in
laboratories for research or routine work. Tap water is first boiled and then condensed to get
distilled water. Cold water needed for condensation of steam is supplied from tap water. Tap water
is also used to feed the boiling tank in which water is boiled.

The possibility of calcification from the soluble salts is reduced by the siliphos filter cartridge. The
heater and all surfaces which are exposed to water and steam are made of stainless material. It
has the ability to pass to safety position in case of empty boiling tank or insufficient inlet water and
to the normal (distillation) position when these deficiencies are overcome.

Distilled water which is acquired from the ND Series of Metallic Water Distillers is stored inside ‘the
Distilled Water Tank’ and provides the user to use the distilled water when it is required. In addition
to this ‘water level control system’ controls the water level and also prevents the waste of energy
and water.

The ND Series Water Distillers have the microprocessor control system and all the work is done by
automatically without any interruption. Level sensor in the condensation boiling tank controls the
amount of distilled water so that it stops the distillation process automatically.

The ND Series Water Distillers have an advanced security system which alerts the user about
heavy calcification, heater failure and electricity failure.

ND Series Water Distillers are manufactured according to the following standards,

EN 61010-1, EN 61000-6-3, EN 50419.

This device is in compliance with WEEE Regulation.

the max performance.

SECTION 4

OPERATING PRINCIPLES

4.1 OPERATING THE WATER DISTILLER

• Turn on the ‘automatic fuse’.

• Switch on the water distiller by using the ‘On/Off’ switch. Observe the ‘On/Off’ switch led is light
up.
• Turn on the ‘cooling water inlet tap’ slowly and wait for a while.
• Observe the ‘cooling water outlet tap’ and be sure that the water is filled in the distiller.
• When the boiling tank is full the device starts distillation process automatically and the
distillation led is light up.

11
4.2 COMPLETION OF WORK

• When the ‘tank full’ led is turned on, the distillation process is completed and the distillation led
is turned off.
• As soon as the distillation process ends up, the device starts pending.
• The ‘cooling water inlet’ is stopped automatically.
• Heating operation in the ‘boiling water tank’ is stopped.
• After the ‘tank half’ led is turned off, the distillation process starts again automatically.
• The device starts to get water from the ‘cooling water inlet tap’ and heating operation in the
‘boiling water tank’ will start automatically.
• After the process is done switch off the water distiller by using the ‘On/Off’ switch.
• Turn on the ‘boiling tank outlet tap’ (5) and Discharge the water in the boiling tank while it is
still hot against the risk of calcification.
• Turn off the tap after all water has been discharged.

HOT WATER HAZARD

THERE MAY BE A RİSK OF HOT WATER WHİLE THE BOİLİNG WATER TANK
İS BEİNG DİSCHARGED.

CAUTION !!!

The amount of cooling water outlet should be adjusted according to the models’ cooling
water inlet.
For ND 4; (±%10) 40lt/hour
For ND 8; (±%10) 80lt/hour
For ND 12; (±%10) 120lt/hour

In each distillation process, adjustment of the cooling water inlet will affect directly the
performance of the producing distilled water. Because of this reason, when the device is
turned on or turned off, it should be suggested that the cooling water inlet tap mustn’t be
closed and adjusted in each process. After the distillation process is completed, the cooling
water inlet is stopped automatically inside the device therefore there will be no waste of
water.

SECTION 5

PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING

5.1 PERIODIC MAINTENANCE

• Empty the ‘boiling tank’ at the end of every operation when the water is still hot.
• At least once a month, wash the boiling tank by pouring water and check that no calcification
occurred. You may use limestone solvent against calcification.
• Please check frequently the amount of siliphos inside the siliphos filter cartridge.

12
CAUTION !!!

Lime in the cooling water causes the calcification on the surface of the heaters and calcification
inside the water-channels which causes important failures. Siliphos filter cartridge is the best
way to prevent the calcification. In order to prevent the calcification the amount of siliphos
inside the siliphos filter cartridge should be checked frequently.

5.2 CLEANING

• Wipe down the surfaces against dust and dirt.

• You may use liquid soap against difficult dust and dirt.
• Please beware of the adverse effects of the chemical cleaners and be careful while applying
them.
