BOARD OF DIRECTORS/MANAGEMENT
THE BEGINNING
BILAL SWITCHGEAR ENGINEERING (PVT) LTD (formely known as BILAL
SWITCHGEAR ENGINEERING COMPANY) was established in 1978.
We have got ISO-9001:2000 Certification in our particular industry. It's over 30 years
company history, the BILAL Switchgear Engineering (PVT) LTD is Pakistan's leading
Engineering Company in design and manufacturing of Medium Voltage & Low
Voltage Electrical Switchgear Cubicles and Distribution Transformers for Industrial
Plants, Commercial Buildings and Domestic Market in Pakistan.
We took start with the manufacturing of Power Distribution Boards and Light Sub-
Distribution Boards. After a successful start, the company started manufacturing of
Low Tension Sub-Station Cubicles in 1982 including ACB Cubicles, Distribution
Cubicles, Bus Tie Duct and Power Factor Improvement Plant.
For the convenience of esteemed clients for one window shopping, the company
started manufacturing of Medium Switchgear Cubicles in 1996 and Distribution
Transformers in 2000.
BILAL Products meet the National & International Standards like IEC, BSS & ISO-
9001:2000. To verify and ensure the same, all our manufactured products
equipment are checked strictly by Quality Assurance Department.
All this has brought BILAL in the line of multi-National Switchgear Manufacturing
Companies in the Pakistan.

Cooling Pads:-
Uses: For lowering indoor air temperature
Evaporative Cooling System lowers air temperature using mists, sprays, or wetted pads by
introducing water.
The typical evaporative pads system draws outside air into the building through wet vertical
pads.
As air passes through the moist pads surface, some of moisture evaporates and heat is withdrawn
and the temperature of air is lowered down.
The major components of this system are:
1) Pad Media
2) Water Supply Pump
3) Distribution Pipes
4) Gutter
5) Bleed off Line.
CABINET: Made of pre-painted galvanzied sheet or stainless steel for life long durability, specially designed for hot
climate, back side easily removable for cleaning and servicing.
COMPRESSOR: High back pressure Condenser and fan motor slightly of over capacity to ensure efficient and
smooth working in all conditions.
THERMOSTAT: Adjustable from 9°C to 12°C (48°F to 54°F) fitted inside to prevent freezing.
INSTALATION: Moisture proof and highly effictive thermopore.
WATER TANK: Made of 18 guage non-magnetic stainless steel sheet tested of leakage and safety @ 10 kg/cm2
(142 PSI) with recommended maximam working pressure of 5 kg/cm(71PSI).
COPPER PIPE: Rounded to outside of water tank complete system thematically with R134A or R12.
TAPE: Spring loads push button in chromium finish.
DRAIN POT: Made of ABS Plastic, covered with stainless steel tray.
About Technology:-
Basic Concept
Most loads on an electrical distribution system can be placed in one of three categories:
Ø Resistive
Ø Inductive
Ø Capacity
The most common of these three on modern systems is the inductive load. Typical examples of
which include transformers, fluorescent lighting and AC induction motors.
The common characteristic of these inductive loads is that they utilize a winding in order to
operate. This winding produces electromagnetic field which allows the motor or transformer to
function and requires a certain amount of electrical power in order to maintain this field.
All inductive loads require two kinds of power to function properly:
1) Active power (kW) – actually performs the work
2) Reactive power (kvar) – sustains the electromagnetic field
One common example of reactive power can be seen in an unloaded AC motor. When all load
is removed from the motor, one might expect the no-load current to drop near zero. In truth,
however, the no-load current will generally show a value between 25% and 30% of full load
current. This is because of the continuous demand for magnetizing current by any induction
load.
Active power is the total power that would be read on a watt meter. Apparent power is the
combination of reactive and active power.
KVA
As the power factor drops from 1.0 to 0.9, power is used less effectively. Therefore, 10% more
current is required than when the power factor was 1.0 to handle the same load.
A power factor of 0.7 requires approximately 43% more current; and a power factor of 0.5
requires approximately 100% (twice as much) as required when the power factor was 1.0 to
handle the same load.
HOW L.V. POWER CAPACITORS SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF LOW POWER FACTOR
Low power factor is a problem that can be solved by adding power factor correction capacitors
to the plant distribution system. As illustrated the power factor correction capacitors work as
reactive current generators “providing” needed reactive power (kvar) into the power supply. By
supplying their own source of reactive power, the industrial user frees the utility from having to
supply it; therefore the total amount of apparent power supplied by the utility will be less.
Power factor correction capacitors reduce the total current drawn from the distribution system
and subsequently increase system capacity by raising the power factor level.
CAPACITOR RATINGS
Power factor correction capacitors are rated in electrical units called “Vars”. Once var is
equivalent to one volt-ampere of reactive power. Vars then are units of measurement for
indicating just how much reactive power the capacitor will supply. As reactive power is usually
measured in thousands of Vars, the letter “k” (abbreviation for “kilo”, meaning thousands)
precedes the var creating the more familiar “kvar” term.
The Capacitor kvar rating then shows how much reactive power the capacitor will supply. Each
unit of the capacitors kvar will decrease the inductive reactive power demand (magnetizing
demand) by the same amount.
