Weather Report

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre issued a red bulletin warning of heavy rain and strong winds for several districts in Sri Lanka from September 6th at 6pm until September 7th at 9am. Very heavy rainfall above 150mm was expected in some places, particularly in high risk districts indicated on a map. Wind speeds could increase up to 50-60 kmph across the island. Automatic weather stations had already recorded rainfall between 100-150mm in several districts.

At 06.00 p.m. on 06 September 2020 for the period until 09.00 a.m. 07 September 2020.

For Land Areas

PLEASE BE AWARE!
Prevailing showery condition is expected to continue
further particularly in the “high risk” districts mentioned
in the map. Very heavy rainfalls above 150 mm are likely
at some places.

Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times


across the island.
