The rapidly growing electrification of mobility ~ particularly in public transport ~
calls for powerful mobile energy storage systems that facilitate travel comfort.
It is easily forgotten that these battery packs themselves are temperature-
sensitive units: depending on the load or climatic region they have an aversion
to excessive cold or heat
This has prompted Valeo to supplement its 5 kW E-Cooler with new concepts
with 8 KW and 10 kW.
BEST-BUS-CLIMATE.COM SSThe battery can be seen as the core element of electric drives. For optimum use of its energy
prior to and during operation, its temperature must be maintained within a narrowly defined
range. Optimum thermal management of Li-ion batteries ensures their performance capability
and thus reliable “driving”.
> VALEO 1S FAMILIAR WITH THE COMFORT ZONE OF BATTERIES
For many years Valeo has been concerned
‘withthe subject of battry temperature
management, Several customer projects and
baad experience inthe market provide the
basis for dversiticatin, Besides the field tested
SkW version, Valea has now introduced
‘concept with 8 of 10 kW ~an optimum solution
{or an even broader field of application and
boosted power even at higher outside tempe-
ratures.
The E-Cooler relieves the battery from over
heating ding the charging and dscharaing
pracess or cools it during the journey at higher
outside temperatures.
he E-Coole also assumes a heating function
and warms up the sensitive Lion batteries
when needed, in order ta restore the optimum
temperature range,
Depending on the situation the batteries can be
‘temperature controlled in thee diferent ways:
‘ifthe outside temperature is low enough,
passive cooling is possible, the system “uses”
the slightly lower outside temperature for
‘enesgy-saving battery cooling,
2.Af the ambient temperature is too high
for passive cooling, the system automaticaly
switches to an active coolant circuit.
3.tf energy is needed for heating the batteries,
the electric heater feeds the necessary heat to
the heating ctcut.> BATTERY THERMAL MANAGEMENT:
