Indian Institute of Technology Indore: Call For Proposals For Technology Innovation Hub (Drishti-Cps)
IIT Indore has recently been awarded with a Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) on
Interdisciplinary Cyber Physical System on the vertical “System Simulation, Modelling and
Visualization” by the Department of Science and Technology (DST). The TIH is named as
“DRiving Innovation through Simulation Hub for Technologies in Interdisciplinary Cyber
Physical System” or DRISHTI-CPS.
The primary focus of DRISHTI-CPS would be to serve as a nodal hub for Cyber Physical
System (CPS) related activities linked to simulations, modelling and visualisation. With an aim
to facilitate the hub at IIT Indore by adopting an inclusive approach, we are reaching out to
expertise from all over the country in the above domain.
In this regard, we are in the process of putting together the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and
we invite CPS related project proposals from all R&D and academic institutions with reference
to the above technology vertical that could be included in the DPR and be potentially funded as
spokes.
The guidelines for submitting the project proposal are attached as Annexure-I
The proposal submission has to be done through Google Form at the following link :
https://forms.gle/5ya6wimZfUDAXGut9
As an annexure to the project proposal, we also request to attach duly endorsed consent letter
from interested faculty members to be printed on Institute letterhead in the format provided by
DST: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hdy0wzmOs8YxBrOkMIbv9U9hi_YGDgZl/view?usp=sharing
This is a rolling call for the proposals. The proposals received on or before the last date of
September 6, 2020 would be considered for evaluation and subsequent inclusion in DPR.

ANNEXURE - I (GENERAL GUIDELINES)
Submission Details:
This is a rolling call and proposals received before September 06, 2020 would be evaluated for
possible inclusion in DPR. PIs should submit using the following project Proposal format:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1iTQWX0ae6BXDV3c11K56tIPId9WqD9ZjCynUs1YqbFg/edit
Eligibility:
1. Applicants [Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator(s) (Co-PI(s))] should be
Indian citizens. In case of involvement of foreign Co-PI, the funding for the foreign Co-PI would
need to be arranged through additional sources.
3. Private Academic institutions with valid UGC / AICTE / PCI approval, private R&D
institutions with valid DSIR-SIRO recognition and Voluntary and Non-Governmental
Organizations registered under NITI-AAYOG Darpan portal are eligible to host a project.
4. Faculties recruited through UGC-Faculty Recharge Program are eligible to apply. INSPIRE
Faculty, Ramanujan and Ramalingaswamy Fellows are also eligible to apply provided they have
at least three and half years of tenure remaining at the time of submission of the application.
5. Investigators who will be superannuating during the duration of the project or already
superannuated are also eligible to apply. In such cases, a Faculty/Scientist from the host institute
who has at least 5 years of service remaining should be associated as a Co-PI. The host
institution should allow the investigator to continue after superannuation and provide required
support towards implementation of the project.
2. The Principal Investigator can apply for projects under three categories :
a. Short-Term Project (Duration 6-12 months)
This mode of project is for product/technology development with respect to immediate
requirement of the industry. It is mandatory to have an industry partner associated with
the project who will be interested in the proposed product/technology.
b. Medium-Term Project (Duration 2 years)
The normal mode is meant to cater to requirements of industries over a longer duration
that would have a research component leading to product development. Prototype
demonstration with technology transfer would be encouraged in this project category.
c. Long-Term Project (Duration 3 years)
This is the standard mode whereby the emphasis would be given to the research
component focussing on the novelty and cutting edge idea leading to product and/or
technology development.
In all the above mentioned categories, financial support in addition to support in kind from the
industry is encouraged.
3. PIs are requested to restrict the total budget of their proposed project to range from INR 5
Lacs - 50 Lacs and emphasize on commitment and justification of deliverables related to CPS.
The research grant may include support for equipment, manpower, consumables, travel,
contingency, overhead etc.
4. The core committee will decide about the inclusion of the project proposal in the DPR based
on rigorous evaluation. The sanctioning/funding procedure on the projects included will only be
carried out after the approval of the DPR from DST.
