    LEADERSHIP STYLE

    In 1971 Cruyff was made the captain of the Ajax team for the first
    time. He was quit remarkable as a player but he was even good as a
    captain. His teammates use to say that he was very jolly in the
    training or outside the pitch, but very competitive on the field. He was
    a very good example of the famous tactic “Total football”. Which was
    invent by his coach Rinus Michels. His ideas were very influenced by
    his coach. Even his competitor who become his friend later
    Beckenbauer said “Maradona could win a match on his on but he can
    never implement the strategies as Cruyff does”. We can say that he
    had a great vision towards the game. He was very cool and clam but
    competitive at the same time. Under his leadership ajax won the
    European championship 3 times consecutively. Because of this he
    also appeared in the best 11 of Europe at that time. He liked winning
    and achieve his targets as we can see in 1974 world cup when he took
    his team to the finals. Before that he made a statement that” Germans
    cannot defeat us we ourselves can lose the match”. Not only in Ajax
    but in Barcelona to, he carried his team to the first league title in 16
    years and also won the domestic cup. His main leadership skill was
    shown in his management. Not every player is a great player ,not
    every great player is a great captain, not every great captain is a great
    manager but Cruyff was a great player, a good captain, and a great
    manager
    MANAGING CAREER AT BARCA
    After his retirement he become manager and in 1985 he was
    appointed as manager of Ajax team. His record were very good for
    beginning a career as a football manage. Ajax won 77 matches out of
    104 under his guidance. But his real performance as a manager came
    with the Barcelona side. They won 231 games out of 400 matches
    under his leadership. He changed the whole playing style of
    Barcelona. He opened the youth academy at Barca naming “La
    masia”, which has giving some great footballer later on. He induced
    the famous passing playing style called “Tiki-Taka”. He also
    expanded the ways of using the formation of 4-3-3 and proposed a
    new formation which is Dimond formation. He build the roots of
    Barca ,which he see today. Even today many people give credits to
    Cruyff for making Barca what it is.
    TITELS IN HIS MANAGING CAREER
    Cruyff was a league winner on four occasions, all with
    Barcelona. He also notably won the Dutch Cup twice with Ajax
    and the Copa del Rey once with Barcelona.

    - He won European titles with the two clubs he managed,


    notably the 1987 Cup Winners Cup with Ajax, the 1989 Cup
    Winners' Cup and 1992 European Cup with Barcelona - the
    club's first.

    - Cruyff was the first manager to win the European Cup with
    Barcelona, back in 1992 against Sampdoria.
