Script: Sandra Pros - 2 (

Adhering to traditional gender roles limits people's potential by not allowing them to make full use of their talents. It promotes the unfair mindset that women should only be housewives and men should only be breadwinners. This does not respect that both women and men should have equal opportunities to pursue their dreams and contribute to society in different ways. The author provides a personal example of facing judgment for wanting to pursue a career in engineering as a woman, a field typically dominated by men. Upholding strict gender roles prevents both genders from following their passions and being successful in the careers of their choosing.

Sandra Pros -2 (Creates a society that prizes familial stability and community)
The pro of adhering to gender roles is that it will create a society that prizes familial stability and
community. Although it seems to promote order in society, it may lead to a lot of issues. For instance,
dominant groups tend to abuse subordinated groups, and such behaviours are considered to be socially
acceptable. On the other hand, subordinated groups get to opt out of certain responsibilities and may
even contribute to misogyny by upholding sexist systems. I think it is safe to assume that unrestrained
male dominance will cause females to lose their personal autonomy, thus leading to gender inequality.
Women will not be able to do what they want, and they are forced to conform. As a result, they lose
their rights to voice out their displeasure and many of them become victims of abuse. They have no
chance to retaliate, and this toxic cycle goes on for the next generation.

Article above clearly shows that women’s right is totally ignored by their society and the only way to
protect themselves is to protest. Hence, the stability is still disrupted, and women are shown to be
displeased by their lack of human rights.

Cons-2 (People aren’t allowed to make full use of their talents)

One of the disadvantages of adhering to traditional gender roles is that people are not allowed to make
full use of their talents. This is said to be relevant as gender roles play an important part in our
careers. For instance, mindset of the society will be that women should just stay at home to be a
housewife and men will be the one who should provide for their families. This is unfair as women
should also have their rights to pursue their dreams and contribute to society in different ways.
Meanwhile, it is also not equal for men which the mindset that men should be breadwinners can be
rather harmful. If a man does not conform to their standards, they will be looked down and lose faith
in themselves which will lead to more mental health problems. For instance, this is my personal
experience where ( when?which? ) I was judged by others when I said that I wish to pursue in the
field of engineering, and I ask them why. The reason is that they have a mindset that it is weird and
unusual for a woman to go into the field of engineering as the percentage of men in this field is way
more than that of women。I strongly feel that this mindset should be changed. It may be uncommon
for someone of a certain gender to go into any field but it is never wrong for us to follow our dreams
and be persistent in our choice, Hence, why should we adhere to gender roles when both men and
women can have equal chances to pursue what they want as no gender should be prioritized in any
field / career.
