Activity 1.2.2. Name Me and Correct Me If I am Wrong
Background Observations
Motorcycles are parked everywhere.
There is no designated parking space.
Jeepneys are everywhere in the public market as a means of transportation.
Goods are placed on top of jeepneys most likely to be transported somewhere.
A huge crowd of people swarms the building.
Social distancing is not being followed.
Based on the lesson, I have learned that research titles should condense the paper’s content in a
few words, it should attract the audiences to encourage them to read the paper, it should also contain
keywords to make it easy to easily allow others to find my research paper, and the research paper
should also allow others to understand the purpose and nature of the research paper.

Based on the lesson, I have learned that the nature of writing a research paper is to understand
society and social processes, as well as to test and to create theories for us to be informed about social
action and hopefully improve social conditions. I also learned that research gives us information about:
attitudes, habits, scientific facts, cultures and norms, medical information, thoughts, and opinion.
Research Objectives
1. To evaluate how illegal parking affects
traffic congestion
2. To evaluate the benefits of proper
parking in traffic flow
1. To evaluate the effects of the pandemic
on the earnings of public market vendors

I have realized that the statement of the problem describes the issues that the research aims to
address as well as present the objectives of the research. It is also important to know if the problems we
investigate are of relevance to society. Researching anything without significance would be a waste. I
have also learned the proper guidelines in writing the statement of the problem.
Based on the lesson, I have realized that in writing the scope and limitations of a study, I should
state categorically the periods of the study, I should list specific aspects of the data such as personal
information, sample size, geographic location, and variables. I should also list the academic theories
applied so the reader knows the lens of analysis you are using.
Based on the lesson, I have realized that I should refer to the statement of the problem in
writing the significance of the study as well as understand and determine the specific contribution of my
study to society as well to an individual. I should be well aware of who my study will benefit from.
Parents play a crucial role in a child’s upbringing, (Sad & Gurbuzturk, 2013). Parental support
pertains to the effort and participation of a parent when it comes to the schooling and the measurement
of involvement in the life of a child (Althoff, 2010). Rosenblat and Peled (2001) indicated that parental
support is important and can affect a child’s attitude towards schooling.
Jeynes (2007) enunciated that the participation of the parents is essential in a student’s
education. When parents actively support and participate in the education of their children, they are
more likely to excel in academics and perform better in school. Also, the more compendious and well
planned the partnership between the home and school, the higher the chance that a student excels
(Henderson & Berla, 2000).
Parental support can be in the form of involvement in a child’s schooling, and there are three
aspects of parental involvement, it includes home-based involvement, school-based involvement, and
academic socialization, (Fan & Chen, 2001; Hill & Chao, 2009; Hill & Tyson, 2009).
Press Reader (2015) cited, that in the United States of America as per according to Michigan
Department of Education, 86 percent of the people who live there agree that the number one factor
when it comes to making school a better place for students is the parental involvement.
In Davao City, according to Press Reader (2017), Project Eagle was pushed wherein it aims to
increase the learning outcomes of the learners; strengthen the relationship between the teachers and
the students; keep the learners in school’ and strengthen team teaching and mentoring among teachers.
Also, it increases parental involvement, since parents can gain a better understanding.
This research study aims to determine the relationship between parental support and the
academic performance of Senior High School students in Sto. Tomas National High School. In order to be
enlightened and to understand their different perspectives. This level of access increases the necessity
for researchers to be informed.
The scope of the study is limited to the relationship of parental involvement with the academic
performance of Senior High School Students enrolled in Sto. Tomas National High School for the school
year 2020-2021. There are 300 questionnaires to be adequately filled and returned by the target
audience to ascertain some variables.
Educators. It is essential for them to understand the variables that are affecting the students’ academic
performance including parental involvement, to help assess their students’ needs.
Parents. It may enable them to think and to understand the critical roles that they play in the child’s
life, especially in their academic performance.
Students. It may enable them to think that they should strive hard in order for them to reach their goals
in life.
Future Researchers. It will help to focus and in identifying the priority areas in which it carries more
research about the students’ academic performance.
YES No Explanations
Y In Lesson 2.1, it is stated that we should non-repetitive words
N In lesson 2.5, it is stated that we should write from general to particular
Y Introducing the topic is always necessary for any academic writing
Y Writing the research title should capture the reader’s attention and entice them to
read more
N In order for the readers to understand, we as researchers should provide context and
background of our study
N Lesson 2.4 states that we should list specific aspects of the data
Y Lesson 2.4 states that we should list categorically the periods covered by the data
Y Of course, it is only proper that our research has a clear objective. Otherwise, it would
be pointless.
Y We need to determine for what benefit our research will do, and in doing so we need
to determine its specific contribution of the study to society
Y It is essential that the research describes the issue that it ais to address to avoid
ambiguity.
