Study the text below and answer the questions that follow.

Rambutan is a popular seasonal local fruit in Malaysia. It is a delicious fruit that can
be found in most parts of South East Asia and it is hardly known in most of the Western
countries. As compared to many other local fruits in South East Asia the rambutan has no
odour at all.

The rambutan is a round to oval shaped single seeded berry. The unripe rambutan is
normally green in colour that slowly turns to yellow and finally red when it is fully ripen. The
fully ripen rambutan has leathery reddish skin that is covered with flesh pliable spines that
look like hair. It is from here that the rambutan got its name as ‘rambut´ which means hair in
the Malay Language.

Once opened you will be able to see its translucent, whitish or very pale pink flesh.
Normally the flesh of the rambutan tastes sweet and juicy. The rambutan has a single nutty
seed that is normally about one-centimeter long. It is glossy brown in colour and soft. Both
the fruits and the seed can be eaten. The peeled fruits can be eaten raw or cooked but the
nutty seed has to be cooked before it is eaten.
