The key takeaways are that ULTRAPHIL® TG provides moisture management, antistatic and soil release properties when finishing polyester fibers and their blends. It enhances fabric comfort, ease of care and durability through multiple wash cycles.

The main benefits of using ULTRAPHIL® TG include increased fabric comfort through moisture transportation, reduced static cling, softer handle, good antistatic effects, easier care and high durability through multiple wash cycles.

ULTRAPHIL® TG can be applied via exhaustion or padding processes. For exhaustion, it is added during or after dyeing between 0.5-2.5% at pH 4.5-5 and a liquor ratio of 5:1-20:1 for 20-30 minutes at 30-40°C. For padding, it is applied at 10-60 g/l with a 50-90% pick up at 20°C and dried at 110-130°C.

Technical Data Sheet

ULTRAPHIL® TG moisture management agent

COMFORT & EASY CARE

Moisture management agent for the durable hydrophilic, antistatic and soil release finishing of
polyester fibers and their blends with cellulose fibers

USES

Moisture management finishes of synthetic fibers (preferably polyester) and their blends with
cellulose fibers with very high durability to washing
Antistatic finishing of synthetic fibers (preferably polyester)

Soil release finishing of synthetic fibers (preferably polyester) and their blends with cellulose fibers

Characteristics Benefits

• Distinct hydrophilic effects, • Increased comfort during wear through moisture

particularly on PES and its blends transportation
• Reduced static cling of garments
• Assists mechanical shrinkage of knitwear
• Easier fabric printing and reprocessing

APPLICATION
®
ULTRAPHIL TG moisture management agent can be applied by padding and exhaustion.

Dissolving/diluting
®
ULTRAPHIL TG moisture management agent is diluted by adding 3–10 times of its weight cold
soft water (below 12 °dH) during continuous stirring.

I. Exhaustion process
The product can be applied on overflow and jet dyeing machines, winches, jigs, paddle and drum
dyeing machines.
It can be applied subsequently to the PES-dyeing process or during the PES-dyeing process.

Required amount
®
0.5–2.5 % ULTRAPHIL TG

Application subsequently to the dyeing process

pH 4.5–5.0 (adjusted with acetic acid 60 %)
Liquor ratio 5:1–20:1
20–30 min at 30–40 °C
Remove liquor and dry without rinsing

Application during the dyeing process

®
Add the diluted ULTRAPHIL TG moisture management agent first
Add dispersing/complexing agent
Add dyeing auxiliaries
Set pH
Add pre-dispersed dyestuff
Follow regular time/temperature cycle
Use soda ash instead of caustic soda for the reductive clearing
(Remark: During the reductive clearing process with caustic soda a partly stripping of the
ULTRAPHIL® TG cannot be avoided.)

II. Padding process

Required amount
®
10–60 g/l ULTRAPHIL TG

Application
Padding with a liquor pick up of 50–90 %
Bath temperature approx. 20 °C
Drying at 110–130 °C
If combined wit cellulose crosslinking agents on PES-blends with cellulose fibers the details
described in the respective technical data sheets are valid.

NOTES

The initial pH of the bath should be between 4.5 and 6.0. If not it should be corrected with acetic
acid to prevent roller build-up.
In the case of disperse dyed and printed fabrics the wash and crock fastness could be impaired,
especially in case of post-heatsetting processes. Preliminary trials are therefore recommended.
The degree of whiteness could be impaired at higher temperatures. Preliminary trials are advisable.
Foaming during exhaust application is usually not a problem provided the pH of the bath is adjusted
to approx. 4.5. With a pH above 5.0 some jet dyeing machines could generate some foam, which
can be controlled by the use of an antifoaming agent.
In case of combined application with stilbene optical brighteners the degree of whiteness could be
impaired. In case of subsequent application on already optically brightened cellulose the degree of
whiteness is not impaired.
Stir thoroughly before use!

Spray application (not product specific)

Aerosols are generated through the spraying technique that potentially may be hazardous to health.
For this reason spray application can only be safely conducted if sufficient ventilation equipment is
installed at the product application site which will prevent spreading of the aerosols into the
workplace. An alternative would be to carry out the spraying application in a closed system.

ATTENTION
Our technical data sheets provide directions for the application possibilities of our products. Any
influence on dyes, prints and their fastness properties, degree of whiteness, fabric properties,
handle, non-slip, seam resistance and material strength, ageing resistance, odor of finished fabric
etc. are under the user’s own responsibility. Due to the many different textile variations we are not
able to submit a general recommendation. Our recommendations are in line with our present state
of knowledge and do not provide any guarantee. Therefore initial internal bulk trials are absolutely
necessary. The manufacturer is not liable for damages due to improper application or application
against our explicit recommendations.
Statutory provisions and standard regulations must be observed when handling processing agents.
For additional detailed information please refer to the product specific safety data sheet.
