RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR THE COMPETITION

I. IMPORTANT DATES
 Release of the Proposition- August 13, 2020

 Last Date of Registration- September 15, 2020

 Last Date for seeking Clarifications- September 17, 2020

 Release of Clarifications- September 20, 2020

 Last Date of Submission of Memorials- September 26, 2020

 Felicitation/Valedictory Ceremony- October 04, 2020

II. PARTICIPATION & ELIGIBILTY


 The competition is open for students currently pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in law
i.e. 3 Year LL.B. courses or 5 Year LL.B. courses from any recognized
College/University/School in India.
 There is no bar on the number of participation or entries participating from any
College/University/School.

III. TEAM COMPOSITION


 Individual participation as well as participation in team of two is allowed.
 Individuals forming a team can be from different colleges/Universities/schools.
 No change in the names of the participants shall be allowed unless the same is
communicated to the organizers a week prior to the event in exceptional
circumstances only.

IV. REGISTRATION
 The participants can register themselves by sending the following details (in case of
team participation, the details of both the members are required) at

payment of registration fees-
Name, Email-address, Name of College/ University, WhatsApp Number, Calling
Number (if different from WhatsApp number).
[Note: For team participants, the required details of both the members shall be
given]

 The Registration shall be confirmed only after a confirmation email along with the
Team Code shall be sent to the participants.

V. INDIVIDUAL/ TEAM CODES


 The Individual/ Team code must be ascribed on the top right corner of the cover
page. The Written Submission shall nowhere mention any particulars of the
individual/ team, except the Individual/ Team Code.
 The Individual/ Team Code shall be communicated to the respective
participant/teams by the Organising Committee once registration process has been
completed by the participant/teams.

VI. MEMORIALS
 Every participant who has successfully registered for the competition, whether a
individual or a team is required to prepare two memorials for submission-
a. Memorial for Petitioner
b. Memorial for Respondent

 Every participant of the competition is required to send the soft copies of their
memorials via email with the subject “Memorials of (TEAM CODE ALLOTTED)”
to eventsthelawstreet@gmail.com on or before 11:59 hrs on September 26, 2020.
 No hard copies are to be submitted since this is a virtually conducted memorial
writing competition.
 Any memorial submitted after the deadline shall be subjected to penalty for late
submission.
 A penalty of 5 marks within 24 hours, a penalty of 10 marks after 24 hours and within
48 hours, a penalty of 15 marks after 48 hours and within 72 hours shall be imposed
for any submission made post the deadline as specified above.
 Also, memorial submitted after 72 hours post the deadline shall not be evaluated.
 The memorial for each side must contain the following parts only:
a. Cover page ( must contain team code/individual code, name of forum,
jurisdiction, name of parties)
b. Table of Contents
c. Index of Authorities
d. Statement of Jurisdiction
e. Statement of Facts
f. Issues Raised
g. Summary of Arguments
h. Arguments Advanced/ Written Pleadings
i. Prayer
 The statement of facts and prayer shall not exceed 2 pages respectively.
 All submissions shall be made in PDF format only and must be named as
follows-
a. “TEAM/ INDIVIDUAL CODE- PETITIONER” for soft copy of
petitioner memorial.
b. “TEAM/ INDIVIDUAL CODE- RESPONDENT” for soft copy of
respondent memorial.

VII. FORMAT OF MEMORIALS
 The following colour scheme shall be followed for the Cover Page of the
Memorial:
 Petitioner: BLUE
 Respondent: RED
 The following content specifications must be strictly adhered to-
a) Font and Size: Times New Roman, 12 pts.
b) Line Spacing: 1.5 lines.
c) Footnotes: Follow ILI Rules of Footnoting.
d) Page Margins: 1 inch on all sides.
f) The citation should be in compliance with the ILI Rules of Footnoting.
 The Footnotes shall be in Times New Roman, size 10, single line spacing,
justified.
 All pages of the Memorial must be of A4 size, with 1-inch margin on each side.
 Non-compliance of any of the above requirements shall lead to a penalty of 2
points respectively.
 It is to be noted that display of any sign, identification mark or logo of any
institution, college or university in the memorial or in any other document is
strictly prohibited and violation of same shall cause immediate disqualification.

VIII. EVALUATION OF MEMORIALS


 The contents of memorials shall be evaluated out of 100 marks.
 The criteria of evaluation are:

1. Knowledge of Law and Facts 20 Marks


2. Interpretation of Law and 25 Marks
Application to Facts
3. Extent and use of Research 20 Marks
4. Clarity and Organization 15 Marks
5. Grammar and Style 10 Marks
6. Correct format and Citation 10 Marks

IX. CLARIFICATIONS

 Teams may seek clarification upon any facts, issues or other form of query related
to moot proposition.
 Teams are required to send their queries in the form of questions with relevant
specifications wherever required to the E-mail id- eventsthelawstreet@gmail.com
on /before September 17, 2020.
 The clarifications received from all the participants would be released together on
September 20, 2020.

X. AWARDS
 The participants securing the first three positions i.e. First, Second and third shall
be felicitated with prizes which include the following:
i. First Position: Any Law Book/ Dictionary of Choice worth
INR 3,000/* + Constitutional Law by Avtar Singh + Code of
Criminal Procedure by S. N. Mishra + Law of Corporate
Governance by Diwakar Sharma + 1 Free MemoPundit
Course worth INR 4500/- + Cash Prize of INR 600/-
ii. Second Position: Any Law Book/ Dictionary of Choice worth
INR 2,000/* + Constitutional Law by Avtar Singh + Code of
Criminal Procedure by S. N. Mishra + 1 Free MemoPundit
Course worth INR 4500/- Cash Prize of INR 500/-
iii. Third Position: Any Law Book/ Dictionary of their Choice
worth INR 1,000/* + Code of Criminal Procedure by S. N.
Mishra + 1 Free MemoPundit Course worth INR 4500/- +
Cash Prize of INR 400/-

 Constitution of India by Dr. B. R. Ambedkar by Law Literature Publications to


Top 25 Scorers.
 Certificate of Excellence shall be provided to the Top 25 Scorers.
 E-Certificates to all participants shall be provided.

XI. MISCELLANEOUS

 Detailed marks of each participant/team would be released after the declaration of
results.
 Organizers propose to declare results through an Online Felicitation/Valedictory
Ceremony on October 4, 2020 by our Chief Guest.
 The Organizers reserves the right to amend, modify, change or repeal any of
the competition rules at any stage. The Organizers shall communicate any
changes made in the competition rules to the participants.
 Any grievances or any complaints in relation to conducting of the competition
shall be communicated to the Organizers via e-mail at
eventsthelawstreet@gmail.com.
 Organizer’s decision shall be final in all matters concerning the competition.
