BERRIER METHOD Contraceptive It is used by women.


Sponge It is good until 24
hours inside the
women’s vagina.
Also, the sponge
covers your cervix
and contains
spermicide to help
prevent pregnancy.

Diaphragm The diaphragm


contraceptive fits
inside a woman’s
vagina. It prevents
the sperms to pass
through the cervix.
Also, it is need to use
with a gel that kills
sperms.

Cervical Cap It is inserted into the


vagina with a
spermicide (a gel that
kills sperms) before
an intercourse to
prevent pregnancy.
The cervical cap
prevents sperms
from entering the
uterus. Also, it is
reusable.
Cervical Shield It covers the cervix so
that the sperms can’t
get into the uterus.

Female Condom The female condom


prevent sperm to
meet an egg cell. It is
put into the vagina
before the
intercourse.

Male Condom Like the female


condom, the male
condom also prevent
sperm to meet an egg
cell. It can also
protect against
sexually transmitted
infections or STIs.
HORMONAL Oral Contraceptive It is also called as birth

prevent the ovaries to
release an egg each
month. also, it thickens
the mucus in the neck
of the womb so that it is
harder for the sperm to
penetrate the womb
and reach an egg.
The Patch It is worn on certain
part of the body, then it
will release hormones

Injection/Shot The injection or shot


contain progestin. A
natural hormone that
the ovaries produce
each month as a part of
the menstrual cycle.

Vaginal Ring It is a small soft, plastic


ring that can be place
inside the vagina. It
releases a continuous
dose of oestrogen
hormones and
progestogen into the
bloodstream to prevent
pregnancy,
IMPLANTABLE Implantable Rods A flexible plastic rod
DIVICES that is about the size of
a matchstick is placed
under the skin of the
upper arm. It releases a
low, steady dose of a
progestational hormone
to thicken the cervical
mucus and thin the
lining of the uterus
(endometrium).
Intrauterine Devices It is a small T-shaped
plastic and copper
device that is put into
the woman’s womb by
a doctor or a nurse. It
releases copper to
prevent pregnancy.
Also, it can prevent
pregnancy for at least 5
to 10 years. It is
commonly called as a
coil or copper coils.
PERMANENT Sterilization Implant A nonsurgical way to

CONTRACEPTION morning after pill, it is
a contraceptive that is
taken after an
unprotected
intercourse.
