Preface
Structural engineering is the science and art of planning, designing,
and constructing safe and economical structures that will serve their
intended purposes. Structural analysis is an integral part of any
structural engineering project, its function being the prediction of the
performance of the proposed structure.
The objective of this book is to develop an understanding of the basic
principles of reinforced concrete structures analysis and design.
Where the book is divided into two main parts mixed in twelve
Content
chapters. Part One presents a general introduction to the subject of
structural engineering, and foxing on reinforced concrete analysis for Chapter 1 - Overview
beams, columns, slabs, and foundation. Where all information related
these general members types are listed and discussed. The second Chapter 2 - Fundamentals
parts deals with the design of reinforced concrete members listed Chapter 3 - Flexural Analysis
above, where the general procedures followed were based on ACI Chapter 4 - Flexural Design
code and briefly explained by examples.
Chapter 5 - Bar Developments
Each chapter of the book begins with an introductory section defining
its objective and ends with a summary section outlining its salient Chapter 6 - Shear Design
features. An important general feature of the book is the inclusion of Chapter 7 - One-way Slab Design
step-by-step procedures for analysis to enable students (of 3rd and 4th Chapter 8 - Columns Design
year in civil engineering departments) to make an easier transition
from theory to problem solving. Numerous solved examples are Chapter 9 - Slender Columns
provided to illustrate the application of the fundamental concepts. Chapter 10 - Two-way Slab Design
Note that all the numbers founded in examples must be rechecked and Chapter 11 - Foundations Design
reviewed again by students and interested, that because its made as a
hidden exercised and training for hand calculation techniques. Chapter 12 - Flexural Analysis for Serviceability
