INTRODUCTION
4

Work Immersion is one of the course requirements for graduating

students. Through Work Immersion, the students are exposed to and
becomebfamiliar with work-related environment related to their field of
specialization to enhance their competencies.

Work Immersion will help the trainee to develop their skills and make
them choose the right decision on post-secondary education or employment,
enrich their skills in communications and human relations, and develop good
work habits, attitudes, appreciation, and respect for work.

Through work immersion students could comprehend and gathered

lessons for the future and for daily use as they fulfill their journey in everyday
life.

Objectives of the Work Immersion

The objectives of work immersion are to provide a safe and comfortable

work place, give an optional work immersion, create an adaptable work
immersion, improve their knowledge and skills to be more productive, to
develop a good relationship towards others, to build up work ethics, attitudes,
and the value of works to develop a better communication, to adapt a new
environment, to improve, develop, and apply their competencies, and to
prepare them for employment.

Duration and Place of Work Immersion

5

Our work immersion ranges 80 hours for 10 days and it was happen in
Mondaya's Catering Services. DepEd hopes that partner institutions will
provide learners with work immersion opportunities, workplace or hands-on
experience, and additional learning resources through partnership building.

The place should be clean, organize and reliable to be able to lessen

bad feedbacks from the customers. There should be a sanitizer or soap the
wash room and washing area to avoid micro organism that could contaminate
the food that the establishments selling.

THE TRAINING AREA

6

Mondaya's Catering Services building is not that big as you imagine,

but they have equipments and materials that suites for the customers needs
because all of it are enough to gives comfort to the guests. The area seems a
little bit crowded, but it is enough space for cooking the dishes. MCS
practices good etiquette such boiling spoon, pork, and any kind of spatula
before opening the building. Clean cloth are prepared in the hanging area for
a safer use. The floor is clean also the chairs, tables, and the windows. They
also have television for guests entertainment while eating. Also they have air
conditioned room for parties or other celebrations. The front side of the
building is the road which is sweep everyday to make it clean. And also they
have safe window cover and also a door cover to sealed the windows and
doors, and other exits.

HISTORY

Mondaya's Catering Services was situated at Anthurium, Central Placer,

Surigao Del Norte. It was build through dedication and persistence. The
7

building was named after the Mondaya's surname, and has been sustained
and grow for a period of time by the associates, especially the Mondaya's
siblings.

MISSION

To serve and promote the Filipino delicacies, to heartfully cook and serve
common specialties with delectable ingredients and to ensure financial
strength and sustainable growth of the Catering for the benefits of the owner,
guests and employees.

VISION

Serving people is what Mondaya's Catering Services is all about, providing

customers a satisfying service, creating an extraordinary customers value
with adequate and high quality services.

THE TRAINING EXPERIENCE

Training is a process by which someone is taught the skills that are

needed for an art, profession, or job. While experience, it is a skill or
8

knowledge that you get by doing something. Being a trainee in Mondaya's

Catering Services is a best experience I ever had.I learned more about
something that I didn't know. I learned that cooking is not just cooking food,
but serving your love and care to the people.I also learned that being in a
business seems like a weather sometimes it's fine and sometimes it's fair and
all the time is a profit risky, because people is like a wave that bulk in a time
but disappear in just a blink of an eye.

My training experience in Mondaya's Catering Services was great and

memorable. Here, I learned how to communicate stranger customers. Here, I
learned to socialize fellowmen. And here I realize that time is gold and hard
worked counts in everyday in every businessman's journey. You need to
plant early to gain profit as times end. In short, as a business person you
should wake up early and prepare the materials for your business product, so
that when the sun shines you are ready to face the consequences may come
to your building.

JOURNAL
9

Day 1

Today is our first day

for work immersion.
Honestly, I felt that today is a Filipino day which 7:00 a.m. will become 8:00
a.m. plus. So, I came in Mondaya's Catering at 7:23 a.m., as expected only
the 3 employee and the 3 girls from Grade-12 are present, no boys were
found. After an hour, the clarification was done so we started working and
that time boys came. This day we were crowded in one place so they decided
that we will be divided into two groups where the two girls are my companion.
This day is not yet fix because we don't have hairnet, apron, and awareness
regarding to the does and don'ts on that building. This day also, I learned
how to wash dishes faster than usual, taking notes to the food that was
already sold, wrapping lumpia, and arranging the cellophane in a bottle of
water to make it easy to use.
10

Day 2

I came at 7:11 in the

morning with attendance
sheet in my hands because I was task to make an attendance sheet so we
can have our daily time record. I instruct them how to write in it and pleased
them to write exactly the time that they came. Today customers are few so no
work, then I decided to sweep the front and inside side of the Karinderya to
make it clean and pleasant to the customers eyes. And after doing the tasks,
we leisure to the port to unwind and relax, it's just a minute anyway. Then
after that, we headed home.

Day 3
11

I guess 7:13 a.m. was not that bad. Then, ate Vivian told us that apron is
necessary if we are washing plates to avoid stain in our white t-shirt. After the
discussion I help Liza in arranging the plastic Cellophanes in the bottle for
comfort and after arranging it I was commanded to buy some ingredients for
a dish order and again after that I was commanded to buy coconut and grind
it in the store. Then after that I found myself mixing the Afritada although it's
not yet finish but I already smell its delicious taste, its delicious. After our
lunch and also relax I join them to buy 5 kilos rice. Then after that we headed
home.

Day 4

I arrived at 7:03 a.m. but that time was fun and yet exhausted. Ralph and
I was task to buy ingredients , but we keep arguing about what is right to buy
like, what is bihon and pancit's difference. So much talk but then we ended
up buying all the ingredients and its heavy as, heavy as my body, hahahaha
joke. After that I smell the delicious bihon so I buy for 10 pesos but they give
it to me as free, just great. I accept it with a very wide smile. After arranging
the plates. I leisure myself by cleaning the used tables and cleaning the dirty
12

plates, bowls, glass, and etc. As usual the 3 girls are my companion in
heading home.

Day 5

I came to the building sweating because I thought I was late but from
them I realize that the time is not 8:00 it was 7:09 a.m. and for that, I sigh for
relief. Then I cut the pig's meat to cook it as pancit's ingredients. Slicing a
meat was not easy because it is thick and slippery, honestly I found out that it
smell's a bit nasty that's why I wash it 3 times like washing clothes to remove
its smell. I was disappointed because the smell remains but then ate Vivian
says that the smell is natural because due to black out. The meat was not
froze so in ends up smelling nasty.

Day 6
13

Today is
Saturday and supposedly there is no ojt because its weekend but then they
requested my presence on this day because the two employee will be ojt of
town so only one will remain and its difficult for her to handle things in the
"karenderya" without helpers. Ate Vivian explain that this day is substitute for
Monday so I wouldn't be going in Monday. So I say yes as an approval. I
thought I was the one coming, but the two Kent's, Brix,, Niño came upon
reading my message about the benefit in coming today. As I started my day, I
peel the carrots, ginger, and the villain onions, urgh ! K hate onions, it makes
me cry for no reason. My other task wasn't documented because no one
takes photos of me because no one's left aside the Mondaya's employee and
me.

Day 7
14

Today is Tuesday and I came here early as 6:49 in the morning. Then,
automatically I went to ate Bebe to help her cut the sweet potatoes leaves for
monggo ingredients. After that I become a photographer to my companion.
They do my job as a pay for the photos I take. I never said that but, they insist
that today I will be their photographer in hired hahahahaha. The rest event
was a good memory to tell about my companion.

Day 8
15

November 13, 2019, time check? I came at 6:57 in the morning, 3

minutes for bulls eye hahahaha. This day was a relaxing day, we just wrap a
few pieces of lumpia, arrange it on Tupperware, and put it inside the freezer.
Then, I help my companion in washing dishes. Then, after that is a deep
conversation between us and the employee and I found out that their salary is
not that expensive as we imagine. It is cheap, good for their daily needs only.
They said that when we are finished in our 10 days training, their life will be
back to normal, busy and exhausted but, then they said that they used to it,
its their well already. And the other small talk about them was a big secret
heheheh

Day 9

I arrived at 7:20 in
the morning, in short I
was late ! Very late.
Well maybe because today is a relaxing day same as the other day. So I
16

learned that life is like a ball, it is moving in circular motion, today was not
busy but on the other day is very busy. Knowing that tomorrow is our last day
here. So we have planned to have a celebration as a memory in Mondaya's
Catering Services. So I was task to collect money for the celebration we have
agreed, but Niño and Samonte are exempted because they will be buying
drinks and makes buko salad. Washing, and sweeping the floor was the thing
I've done today.

Day 10

For me this day is the crucial day because today we will be graduating,
joke ! I mean this is our last day in our Work Immersion. Well, sad to say I
came late in the morning, it was already 7:23. Then after a conversation, I
was task to buy ingredients for our food preparation but sad to say that the
budget was not yet enough. After buying ingredients I wash the dirty dishes
because it seems that I'm the one who is not busy. Then, I help the two girls
17

in mixing the ingredients in our buko salad to make it tasty. After that, I went
to the counter to served the customers. At exactly 2:15 in the afternoon we
have our lunch and it was fun. Then, after that we headed home with a wide
smile in our face saying that "yes we did it ! Thank you Lord !

OBSERVATION AND INSIGHTS

18

Given the opportunity to have a work immersion in Mondaya's Catering

Services is an honor because the stakeholders in the building are all kind and
willing to help the trainee to develop their skills in terms of services and
communication skills. They never set barriers among each other because
they want the trainee to have an open-minded mind to be trustworthy and to
