• Removing the Telescope cylinder from Tele 1 for maintenance by using the Dongle:
Note: Ensure the correct counterweight is installed to facilitate greasing the boom.
Check the maintenance manual for the correct configuration.
1. Place the fully retracted boom in a horizontal position
2. Insert the dongle and restart ECOS to accept dongle
3. Telescope section T1 out to the mid position in semi-automatic mode and pin
4. Unlock the telescope cylinder and retract it from the boom section to the zero position
Warning! Stop engine prior to entering the boom
To re-connect the telescope cylinder to the boom sections:
1. Unlock telescope cylinder and extend it to the “in position” for telescope section 1
2. Pin telescope cylinder to the boom sections
3. Remove dongle
Warning! Be very careful not to overrun the pinning position
• Removing the Telescope cylinder from Tele 1 for maintenance without the Dongle:
Note: Ensure the correct counterweight is installed to facilitate greasing the boom.
Check the maintenance manual for the correct configuration.
1. With the main boom fully retracted and at 0 degree angle, extend boom section T1 to the
mid position and pin.
2. Shut off ignition and disconnect the ECOS Precision Length Reel cable. The connection
may be accessible near logic/control block in the turn table.
3. Turn on the ignition and start crane, this will automatically cause ECOS to default to the
Emergency Operation Mode. Enter the correct Rigging Code i.e: (100, 200, 300, etc) for
the counterweight installed on the crane. Clear all errors and set points on EKS4.
4. On the EKS4, press and hold F1 and touch Info2. A numeric value will be displayed in
the information window, this value represents the telescope cylinder length.
Note! Do not confuse this with actual boom length
5. Acknowledge error message for A3502 on the ECOS display by pushing the "Enter" key
on the ECOS panel.

6. Press F4 on the ECOS panel, ECOS will ask for an access Key-Code. The key-code is:
Enter, Up Arrow, Down Arrow and Enter. When entering the key-code an * will appear on
the ECOS display for each digit of the key-code. If the key-code is entered correctly, ECOS
will display a time value of 360 seconds in the bottom left corner of the ECOS display. This
value will begin to decrease, this is the amount of time you have available to complete any
Emergency Operation function you wish to carry out.
7. Manually push the rocker switch for telescope cylinder unlock. ECOS will unlock the
telescope cylinder pins and allow you to retract the telescope cylinder. Before retracting the
telescope cylinder observe and note the numeric value displayed in the information window
of EKS4. You will need this value as a reference for returning the telescope cylinder to the
T1 boom section. Once you have begun retracting the telescope cylinder you will loose the
position indicator lights (too hi / too low) on the ECOS panel. Observe the numeric value in
the information window on EKS4, when this numeric value is approximately 2.0 the pinning
head of the telescope cylinder will be just forward of the front edge of the manhole in the
boom.
8. Shut off crane engine and ignition and perform necessary repairs and/or maintenance as
needed.
4. Observe the red and green indicator lights for pinning, if a solid green light is visible for
telescope cylinder pinned then the telescope cylinder should be locked to the T1 boom
section. Verify by retracting the telescope cylinder while observing the length indictor on
EKS4, the cylinder should not be able to retract.
5. Shut off the crane and ignition and reconnect the ECOS Precision Length Reel cable.
6. Restart the crane, enter the correct operation "Telescope Status" for the boom
configuration into the ECOS display.
7. Enter the correct operation code for the counterweight you have installed into the EKS4.
boom can now be extended or retracted as needed.
Note: Should the Telescope displays on the EKS4 start to flash, make sure that ECOS is
displaying the proper Telescope Status. If the proper telescope status is not displayed i.e:
(50,0,0,0,0) then enter this status into the ECOS display and press Enter. Once the correct
telescope status is confirmed, press and hold F1 + F2 and touch CE on the EKS4, this will
re-synchronize the ECOS and EKS4 computers. Cycle the ignition switch off then on to
reconfirm the two computers see the same telescope picture.
