1.1.2 Safety standards

The first start-up of the CTX 510 eco lathe and the operating instructions are
delivered by the competent service of FAMOT Pleszew plant, which ensures
the efficiency and safety already from the first start-up..
ZFAMOT Pleszew S.A. reached a maximum level of technology and practice
currently attainable; however, the machine can not be operated by the person-
nel which is inexperienced, non-specialized or not mature enough.
The machine should be used in an appropriate way, in compliance with the in-
tended purpose.
The CTX 510 eco lathes meet the safety standards. Despite the above, the
lack of attention or experience can cause:
• the health hazard
• the risk of damage for the machine and personal property of the user,
• the danger that affects the quality and efficiency of work
During transportation, installation and start-up operations, current safety stan-
dards should be met and all precautions made available by technology and
practice should be observed. In particular, the following should be respected:
• all valid safety standards relating to the work and operations of this type,
• the standards relating to connecting the electric system to the power supply,
• the standards valid in the country where the machine is used,
• the engineering standards covering hydraulic parts and parts under
pressure.

2.1 Package
The package of the machine includes the technical documentation in a special
container marked with the machine serial number; the documentation concer-
ning the accessories and commercial spare parts is placed in the internal po-
cket in the electric switchgear.
Moreover, a wooden box is delivered with the set of tools for application of the
material for fastening the machine to the foundation (vials with chemical glue),
and other accessories delivered on request.
However, the machine can already be equipped with accessories demanded
by the customer.
The machine can be sent as follows:.
• standard, where the usual package is used, with fixing on two boards (placed
on a flat basis of a truck)

• Prepare all possible optional equipment that can be connected to the
machine, and all things necessary for installation of the machine, including
any products (for example: oils, fixing accessories and so on).

7.2 Connection to the mains

Protections
As per their operational principle, modern digital drives with recovery of the
network voltage generate leakage current towards earth which is mainly of ca-
pacitive and impulsive type, and which is not a sign of any electrical failure, but
can cause unjustified interventions of differential switches.

Anyway, if you decide to apply a differential switch for additional protection, we

recommend using type B switches for continuous type failure currents with set-
ting not less than 300 mA and variable operating time.

7.7 Fillings

7.7.1 Fluids
The assignment of fluids and designation of the lubricating points presented in
this handbook comply with DIN 51 502 Standard.
The use of appropriate fluids is essential to the safe operation and long life of
the machine. In general, the machine is delivered without fluids. It is recom-
mended to continue using the fluids indicated for the first filling (see: the in-
struction).
If this is not possible, use other fluids as indicated in the table enclosed.
To avoid the incompatibility of the mixture, we recommend using the fluids of
the same brand, if possible.

7.7.2 Recommendation
TOnly the usage of fluids of these types warrants the reliable functioning of the
machine.

The manufacturers of fluids have technical service which can pass to you the
detail information and recommendations regarding their application.

7.7.3 Preparing lubricants and coolant- lubricants

N Due to some ingredients (additions), these products are the potential source of
risk to human health and may cause environmental pollution.

Their choice and usage depends exclusively on the user. The servicing in-
struction elaborated by the manufacturer should include the following informa-
tion to define the way of using the product:
• definition of the substance,
• presentation of the risk for human health/life and possible environmental
impact,
• protection means and rules of proceeding, for example:
- recommendation to wear the protective shoes of the resistant material,
- caution to keep these substances away from skin and eyes,
- caution to avoid breathing in the vapours or sprayed substances,
- no smoking during handling these fluids/oils.
The fumes of the lubricant can be generated during machining.
When the applied coolant- lubricant contains 15% of oil or more, and when the

Page 24 CTX 510 eco_TA_EN-v1.0

easily flammable coolant- lubricant is used in a hermetic work place, there

exists the ignition and explosion danger.
Contact the manufacturer for the means of protection.

7.7.4 Recommendations regarding the removal of spent fluids

The fluids used for machine operation are pollutants, so they may not be di-
scharged to the environment.
The ecological way of disposal of spent fluids should be defined before the
machine is installed. You can contact, for example, the hazardous waste dis-
posal depot.

Re-installing the machine

10 Re-installing the machine

When the machine is to be carried over to another working place, the following
procedure should be followed:

10.1 Preparing the machine

• Switch the machine off.
• Disconnect the machine from the mains.
• Clean up the machine and the chip conveyor..
• Disconnect the chip conveyor.:
- Disconnect the electrical connection of the chip conveyor from the
machine
- Disconnect the coolant tubing
- Unscrew the fixing bolts (2 internal wrenching bolts ).
- Withdraw upwards the bolts of the chip conveyor legs.
- Remove the chip conveyor from the machine.
• Position the machine hoisting equipment.
• Remove 4 nuts which fix the machine..
In case of longer transportation (> 1 day) and for storage, carry out the follo-
wing activities:
• Accurately clean up the working premises, all metal glossy parts of the
machine, and the peripheral equipment.
• The surfaces should be dry-cleaned for storage; no traces of lubricating oil,
coolant or detergents may be left.
• Before applying the protective layer, the surfaces should be cooled down to
ambient temperature.
• Preventive agents should be sprayed at ambient temperature.
• Fasten the instruction relating to the transportation and installation on the
transparent sheet on the glass panel of the machine protective guard.
• Cover the machine with protective canvas.

Before moving the machine over, the axes, the guard and the console should
be blocked using the appropriate blocking fixtures (see: paragraph on blocking
for transport)

10.2 Loading the machine

the safety.

10.3.2 Deactivation of the machine

When the technical and operational life of the machine is over, the machine
has to be deactivated.
The machine which has been taken out of service and may no longer be used
in safe conditions for the purpose for which it was designed and constructed,
should undergo the raw material recovery procedure.
It is necessary to carry out the deactivation and safe scrapping of the machine
to eliminate the risk caused by:
• Contact of the operator with tools.
• Cracking of the monitor (video).
• Oil stream under pressure.
• Electric current.
FAMOT Pleszew S.A. shall not be held liable for any injury or damage resulting
from the re-use of single parts of the machine, the functions or the assembling
situations other than the original ones.

10.3.2.1 Deactivation procedure

b Deactivation and scrapping operations should be commissioned to the

specialized plant or else be performed by the properly trained and equipped
personnel.

• Switch out the machine according to the procedure presented in the

previous chapters and paragraphs.
• Disconnect from all the external energy sources (the electric and pneumatic
ones)
• Cut off the supply in the switchgear cabinet.
• Release the residual pressure from the system by disconnecting the quick
connector.
• Dismantle the machine to separate the following parts:
- The basic machine.
- The chip removal unit.
- The additional container and filters (if present).
- The pressing bar (if present; see the instruction from a given
