STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Name: FULL NAME

Course Aspiring: MS in Information Technology

It is my belief that the most amazing minute particle in our lives is the electron. In senior high
school, my physics professor often said “The whole world dances to the tune of an electron” –
as we use electronic gadgets in almost every walk of life. This unleashed my desire to pursue
under graduation in Electrical Engineering. However, right from my childhood I also the had a
strong inclination to be a Computer Science Engineer, but at that time it was impossible to
pursue both the programs simultaneously so I opted for Electronics and Communications
Engineering since I understood that this branch would help me to understand various gadgets
along with the computers. Now I have come to a point where I can transfer my hardware skills
acquired in the past four years to earn an MS in Information Technology. In the following lines
I present my candidature for the same.

My schooling infused in me a keen sense of scientific temperament, Quantitative abilities and

instilled in me a special interest towards mathematics and physical sciences which are also my
pre-university majors. It was at this time that I developed a fascination for the multidisciplinary
facet of Electronics and Communications, its broad scope and its wide range of applications
made me opt for it as my major in the undergraduate course. The last three years have literally
transformed my dream into a passion – a strong compelling force to acquire more knowledge in
Computers, my preferred field of study.

The first two years of my under graduation helped me master the core subjects Electronic
Devices and circuits, Pulse and Digital Circuits, Signals and Systems, Electronic Circuit
Analysis, Linear and Digital IC Applications, Digital Signal Processing, Analog
Communications, Switching Theory and Logic Design and VLSI. My effort to be the very best
in every field has not prevented me from broadening my perspectives in my field of interest.
Towards this end, I am well versed with programming in C language, Java, operating system
like Linux, Windows and software tools like MATLAB, Multisim, and Verilog HDL.

During my 3rd year, I gained immense inclination towards Microcontrollers which led to the
development of my mini project “Data Encryption and Decryption”. The aim of this project is
to transmit the data securely through RF module. The software part was implemented using the
hexadecimal code and the hardware was implemented using the appropriate microcontroller
with required features and assembling them onto the circuit board. As the project was done on
our own, it helped me in understanding the concepts of the subject thoroughly by applying them
in practice. At present, I am in my final year doing my final year project titled “Wireless Spy
Robot with Object Detection”.
Further, I got the great opportunity of connecting with Electrical Engineers around the world
was possible by becoming a member of IEEE. Being one of the first members to join it, I had a
major role to play in setting up the initial student chapter activities in the IEEE student chapter
at our university. We discuss the monthly IEEE spectrum which has the most intricate details on
the latest technologies. These meetings give me a great chance to share ideas and improve my
knowledge, as an add-on to the academic curriculum.

My penchant for Robotics had made me participate in various national level technical symposia
like NIRVANA 08 conducted by Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology, MECHANICA 08
conducted by Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology. My keen insight into the learning
process and innovative thinking made me participate in various technical paper presentations
like “Real Time Image Processing” in QUBIT 08 - A National Level Technical Symposium by
Department of Computer Science Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology,
“Nano Technology” in SYNAPSE 09 - A National Level Technical Symposium by Department
of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology.

Proving my leadership skills I worked as a successful Organizer for national level technical
symposia NIRVANA 08 at my college and even as volunteer for MICROCOSM 08 - A
National Level Technical Symposium by Department of Electronics and Communication
Engineering at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology.

To sum it all up, my thirst for knowledge has been ever increasing. Treading the less trodden
has always led to great inventions. Increasing curiosity and enthusiasm compelled me to choose
XXXXX University for my graduate studies which will provide me the platform to learn, think
and improvise my dream of creating newer, safer and greener technologies. I hope my
application finds due favor with the admission committee and gives me the opportunity to fulfill
my ambition.
