SRIWANGI

Citronella (fragrant lemon grass) waste which is the result of distillation of essential oils
if not managed will cause environmental pollution. This waste has the potential to be
used as animal feed, because it has a 7.00% protein content, 2.35% fat, energy 3.353.00
kkg / GE / kg, crude fiber 25.73%, ca 0.35%, P 0.14% and ash content 7.91%. The
nutritional content found in citronella waste shows that it can be used as animal feed.
Based on these problems, residues (in pulp form) that accumulate through proper
processing, has high nutritional value and potential to reduces the impact of
environmental pollution. Therefore, the group process this waste into animal feed in
the form of silage - a high-water fermented feed given to ruminant animals or used as
biofuel through anaerobic digestion.

Impression from UNAND

• INSPIRE is a good project to cultivate the spirit for social

entrepreneurship among students
• INSPIRE’s methodological processes in disseminating
entrepreneurship to specific group of individuals could be replicated
elsewhere, especially in the developing countries.
• INSPIRE’s tight schedule – timeline – milestone –process – report
which are simultaneously combined with good
communication/interaction means high standard, and high standard
means high project quality.
• Contingency planning, however, needs to be previously considered
and prepared – as the project should re-arrange so many things due
to the COVID-19
• It would be good to have subsequent projects by using INSPIRE’s
project results as the basis.
