Similarities Islam Christiani
There are many people today who argue Islam and Christianity are locked in a
civilizational war. Islam is part of the same Abrahamic tradition as Christianity.
Key figures within the Bible — Abraham (Ibrahim), Moses (Musa), Mary
(Maryam), and Jesus (Isa) among others — are all respected prophets and
figures within Islam. There is a chapter in the Quran about Mary and, within the
Quran, Jesus is the only person who can perform miracles.
The personality of Jesus plays a central role in Islam. Muslims believe that God
delivered the Gospel — Injeel to Jesus, just as he did Ta’wrat with Moses and
the Old Testament (Zabur) to David and the Qur’an to Prophet Muhammad
(peace be upon them). It is critical for Muslims and non-Muslims to understand
that a person is not considered a Muslim unless he or she believes in Jesus, and
Islam is the only religion that testifies to Christianity. Beside that, there are
some similarities between the Christian and Islamic concepts of God, but we
can’t conclude that Christians and Muslims worship the same God. Among the
similarities:
In another Surate, Allah said: And He taught Adam the names – all of them.
Then He showed them to the angels and said, “Inform Me of the names of these,
if you are truthful. (2:34)
In the other hand in the New Testament, Paul tells us that God created all things
“visible and invisible,” and specifically includes the angelic world with the
phrase “whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities”
(Colossians 1:16). Also, we can read that "For God commands the angels to
guard you in all your ways. With their hands they shall support you, lest you
strike your foot against a stone."
Psalm 91:11-12
2-Judgment day
Christians and Muslims believe in a life after death; comprising of the
resurrection of the dead on the Day of Judgment and retribution of reward and
punishment by God in the form of membership of heaven and hell according to
one's earthly deeds. Both of the religions eschatology is well defined and
graphically described.
ALLAH said in the Qur’an about the judgment day: “Every soul will taste death.
Then to Us will you be returned” (29:57).
ALLAH said: ‘’And whoever seeks a religion other than Islam, it will not be
accepted from him and he will be one of the losers in the Hereafter. ‘’ (Quran,
3:85)
Matthew 12:36 ”But I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak,
they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.’’
“For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged. But when we are
judged, we are chastened by the Lord, that we may not be condemned with the
world.” 1 Corinthians 11:31-32.
Heaven and Hell are regarded by Islam and Christianity as permanent adobes
of the righteous and the evil doers respectively after their physical death. Hell is
eternal damnation and heaven is the symbol of eternal peaceful life in constant
fellowship with God.
It said in the Holy Qur’an: “Indeed whoever ascribes partners to Allah, Allah
shall forbid him [entry into] paradise, and his refuge shall be the Fire, and the
wrongdoers will not have any helpers” (Q 5:72).
In the second chapter God himself declares, “But those who are faithless and
deny Our signs, they shall be the inmates of the Fire and they shall remain in it
forever” (Q 2:39)
The same it said in the bible, Romans, 2:6- “He will render to each one
according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory
and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-
seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath
and fury.”
It also said in the bible: Matthew 25:46 - And these shall go away into
everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.
4-Prohibition of pork:
The Qur’an prohibits the consumption of pork in no less than four different
verses. The Holy Quran mentioned in Chapter 2:188:
“And do not consume one another’s wealth unjustly or send it [in bribery] to the
rulers in order that [they might aid] you [to] consume a portion of the wealth of
the people in sin, while you know [it is unlawful].”
“Forbidden to you (for food) are: dead meat, blood, the flesh of swine, and that
on which hath been invoked a name other than that of Allah.’’ [Al-Qur’an 5:3]
In Leviticus 11:8, it said: ‘You shall not eat of their flesh nor touch their
carcasses; they are unclean to you.”
“and the pig, for though it divides the hoof, thus making a split hoof, it does not
chew cud, it is unclean to you’’ Leviticus 11:7
Conclusion
Christianity and Islam are the two largest religions in the world. The followers
of Christianity are known as Christians and the followers of Islam are known as
Muslims. They are both from Abrahamic traditions. Muslims consider Christians
as the People of the Book. Christianity and Islam have many points of contact.
But there are some things upon which they disagree. The points of disagreement
touch every important religious doctrine. There are some similarities between
the Christian and Islamic concepts of God, but we can’t conclude that Christians
and Muslims worship the same God.
Some of the similarities are believing in angels ,believing in Heaven and Hell,
the believe of the judgment day and prohibition of pork.
