Expressing Intention

Definisi:

Intention is a goal or a vision that guides your activities, thoughts, attitudes and choices.

Ciri-ciri:

Usually expressing intention is using a certain feature such as simple future tense, starting with
“would like” or “would rather”

Macam-macam:

- Expressing intention:

Contoh: I would like to take a shower

I’m going to my grandma’s house

I’m planning to get married soon

- Asking plans and intention:

Contoh: Will you go for shopping with us?

Yes, I’m going for shopping with you all.

What would you like to drink?

I would like to drink a cup of tea

- Expressing plans and intention

Contoh:

What are you doing tonight?

I’ll be staying at home

What will you do in the summer?

I’ll go for a vacation

Formula:

1. S + Shall/Will + V1

2. Shall for I and We

Will for He, She, It, They and You

3. S + be + going to + V1

I for am

She, He, It for is

We, You, They for are

4. S + Shall/Will + be + non verb

5. S + Would + Rather + Verb 1

Perbedaan penggunaan will dan would:

We use will:

 to talk about the future – to say what we believe will happen

 to talk about what people want to do or are willing to do

 to make promises and offers

Would is the past tense form of will. Because it is a past tense it is used:

 to talk about the past.

 to talk about hypotheses – things that are imagined rather than true.

 for politeness.

Now let's answer the question!

Situation 1:

I would also like to create more academic extracurricular activity such as English club and other
foreign languages (German, French, Mandarin, Spanish, Japanese). Adding Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry Club for our geek friends who are interested to join. So we are not only
developing our physical ability but also our intelligence in a fun way.
I would also like to add music/band for our friends who are into singing and playing instruments.
I believe that not only our skill should be developed, but our happiness too. By music we could
be happier and of course it is one of the crucial source of entertainment.

I would also like to provide a place for our friends who are into culinary. Not only focusing on
mind and physics, but happy soul can be obtained through delicious cuisine as well. Growing our
canteen better with more food with improved quality.

And the last but not least, I would like to build a co-working space. It is a place for students to
have a discussion, meeting, etc. with good facility like fast Internet connection, chill temperature,
clean environment. Hopefully by creating a co-working space it will encourage our friends to
learn better and smarter.

Situation 2:

Ambar: Hey Jane, Summer is coming! Where would you like to go on holiday this year?

Jane: Hello, Ambar. Mmm I’m still not sure where I want to spend my holiday.

Ambar: Would you like to go somewhere interesting or stay at home?

Jane: I would like to visit a new place that I’ve never been before. Like mountains. I mean,
hiking can be fun!

Ambar: Ah I see. Maybe I can arrange that for our plan. I will call my brother because he loves
hiking too. Maybe he can give us some idea!

Jane: Sounds great!
