Levi Celerio is a Filipino composer and lyricist, born on April 30, 1910 in Tondo, Manila,
Philippines. He received a free education to the Academy of Music in Manila and became the
youngest affiliate of the Manila Symphony Orchestra. He was a creative songwriter, with more
than 4,000 songs to his acclaim including Filipino folk, Christmas, and love songs that
are popular pieces, which many consider to be immortal. Famous for being a lyricist, his songs
treasure life; express nationalistic sentiments and complete grand philosophies.
He is probably best recognized for being a leaf-player, an achievement where he was place into
the Guinness Book of World Records. He wrote a huge number of songs for local movies, which
gained him the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Film Academy of the Philippines. He was
awarded as National Artist of the Philippines for Music in 1997. He died on April 2, 2002.

Warmly known as Mr. C, born Raymundo Cipriano Pujante Cayabyab on May 4, 1954 in Manila,
Philippines. Ryan's mother was an opera singer; she died when he was only 6, while his father
fought to sustain him and his three siblings. His mother's wish was that no one of her children
would make music as a line of work; knowing how tough life is for a musician with insufficient
income.
Cayabyab graduated from the UP College of Music earning a Bachelor of Music, Major in
Composition degree. Following that, he became a complete professor for theDepartment of
Composition and Music Theory in the UP Diliman for about two decades.
His works range from commissioned full-length ballets, theater musicals, choral pieces, a Mass
set to unaccompanied chorus, and orchestral pieces, to commercial recordings of popular
music, film scores and television specials.
He is now the executive director of the Philpop MusicFest Foundation Inc., the organization
behind the Philippine Popular Music Festival, a songwriting competition for amateurs and
professionals that seeks to uplift the Philippine Music industry by putting the spotlight on
songwriters, and encouraging Filipinos to preserve our musical identity.
Jose Mari Chan
Born: March 11, 1945

Jose Mari Chan is a Chinese Filipino singer, songwriter and businessman in the sugar industry.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the Ateneo de Manila
University in 1967.  He is currently Chairman and CEO of BISCOM, Inc. and A. Chan Sugar
Corporation. He is also the Chairman and President of Signature Music Inc.
In 1973 he represented the Philippines in the World Popular Song Festival in Tokyo where his
song "Can We Just Stop and Talk A While" went into the final entries. In 1975 he moved to the
United States for his sugar business and remained there for 11 years. In 1986, he went back to
the music industry with the release of his album A Golden Change. In 2005 he composed
"We're All Just One" as the theme song of the 2005 Southeast Asian Games.
Rey Valera
Born: May 4, 1954

Reynaldo Valera Guardiano (better known as Rey Valera) is a well-known singer, songwriter,
music director, film scorer and television host. He wrote and produced songs that were
recorded by various singers, most notably Sharon Cuneta. Rey Valera started his recording
career in 1977 after becoming a band member from a group called Electric Hair Band for seven
years. Valera ‘s songs are also favorite titles and theme songs of soap operas.
On November 9, 2006, Rey was inducted to Bulacan's own "Walk of Fame", in the "Hardin ng
Mga Bayani at Sining" ( The Garden of the Heroes and Arts/Artists), Malolos City, Bulacan.
George Canseco
Born: 23 April 1934

Born George Masangkay Canseco, he studied at the Naic Elementary School and Jose Abad
Santos high school. He then finished journalism at the University of the East and even worked
as one for the Philippines Herald and Associated Press where he was an editor. While working,
he still played his own music.
Canseco studied and graduated with a Liberal Arts degree at University of the East in the
Philippines. After graduation, he worked for the Philippine Herald and the Associated Press as a
journalist. He also free-lanced as a scriptwriter for hire in Manila. Canseco was commissioned
by former Philippines First lady, Imelda Marcos, to compose the national tribute hymn, "I Am a
Filipino" (Ako Ay Pilipino).
Aside from being a journalist, he also worked as a part time scriptwriter for the Manila
Broadcasting Co and news director at Eagle Broadcasting. Canseco began devoting himself into
writing music when Martial Law broke out in 1972, seeing that press freedom was being
contained in that time. Canseco was a nationally acclaimed composer of numerous popular
Filipino classics.
Canseco was elected President of the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers,
Inc. in 1973, and also elected a Councilor for the First District of Quezon City in 1988.
