World Cup ads to cost Rs. 24 lakh per 10 sec

It could be a windfall for cricket World Cup broadcaster ESPN Star Sports if India
reaches the knockout stages, as the spot rate for advertisements could then touch
up to Rs. 24 lakh per 10 seconds.

The broadcaster, which has reserved ad inventory of nearly 5-6 per cent for the last
few matches, is keeping its fingers crossed and hoping India plays in the title
round.

"If India does well and reaches the knockout stages, ad spot rates could jump up
significantly, as high as five to six times of the existing rate,
Miandad: Spot-fixing a threat to cricket

Pakistan cricket great Javed Miandad believes spot-fixing is more damaging to the
game than match-fixing.

Miandad said banned cricketers Salman Butt, Mohammad Amir and Mohammad
Asif should now assist the International Cricket Council and the Pakistan Cricket
Board to identify those people involved in rigging betting markets, and thereby
harming the game.

The ICC anti-corruption tribunal has banned the Pakistan trio for a minimum of
five years last weekend for bowling no-balls at predetermined times in a test
against England to fix spot-betting markets.
Kirsten pays special attention to Sehwag,
Gambhir

elbow injury ruled him out of the
World Cup, the Indian team

No wonder that coach Gary Kirsten paid special attention to the

Delhi duo of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir who have
recently recuperated from shoulder and elbow injuries
respectively, during the first day of India's short pre-World Cup
camp that got underway at the National Cricket Academy on
Wednesday.

Arsenal has always shown fantastic attitude

I would say against Everton it

was more a victory of a team
with fantastic spirit and a
never-say-die attitude than our
usual game. I am very happy
because this is maybe the
aspect of the team which has
been questioned the most, yet
we played our tenth game in one month and every time
we have shown, even when football-wise our level
dropped a little bit, we have always shown fantastic
attitude.
