Activity 4
When I sung the national anthem in elementary school. I very clearly had a monotone when I did
everything. Not much was said by the other students and teachers, they just stood and did the
salutations to the anthem. There is no room to converse, we just stood as they lyrics came by. A very
interesting moment of solace.
Activity 5
Every time I converse with my professor made an hour feel like a day. It mostly happens in Evaluation
day and you must pass a certain set of criteria. You try to not get on their nerves by having speech
impediments as mutual respect must remain. If you lose on your end, then you get a lower grade. Using
words thrown casually may not be advised, like trying to maintain appearances while speaking.
Activity 6
When I did my annual report in front of the class. I was not allowed to use words I am used to using. I
cannot do any gesture that may seem informal. Although we were open for discussions, the atmosphere
felt cold as if I cannot screw up. Its less serious than 1 versus 1 with your professor but cold sweats is
just everywhere with it.
Activity 7
“The State of the Union Address” is a prose speech delivered early in the year by the sitting president of
the United States.
“The Declaration of Independence” is a prose document signed by prominent American colonists who
wished no longer to be under British rule.
“It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen” by George Orwell.
“Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whether that station will be held by anybody
else, these pages must show” by David Copperfield.
“Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way”. By Leo Tolstoy
“The poor are very great people. They can teach us so many beautiful things”. By Mother Teresa.
“All the world’s a stage, And all the men and women were merely players” by Shakespeare
Activity 8
David Copperfield line of “Whether I shall turn out to be the hero of my own life, or whatever that
station will be held by anybody else, these pages must show” is a classic example of someone just saying
what he needs to convey. There is no structure, context is barely planned out but he still tries to be very
poetic.
