Sub: Voicing concern regarding non availability of essential commodities at Fair Price Shops.

Sir

Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper I would like to draw the attention of Food and
Supply Authorities regarding non- availability of essential commodities at the fair Price Shops
in the Panchsheel Colony of Bangalore.

It has been often seen that the shopkeepers complain that the commodities like sugar, rice, wheat
and other articles are not available with the government in adequate quantity. This causes a big
problem for the consumers who are not left with any choice but to buy these commodities from
private retailers at a higher price. In some cases it has been noticed that these shopkeepers do not
maintain their records and sell openly at higher rates while the card- holders suffer, thus earning
a big booty by hoarding different items. It seems that the shopkeepers do a roaring business
under the connivance of food inspectors. Since this colony is majorly inhabited by the people
living below poverty line, it is becoming difficult for them to sustain their lives as the prices are
rising.

I hope that you would publish this letter in your newspaper so that this concern of the residents
of Panchsheel colony is able to reach the concerned authorities. It is also requested that the
authorities should pay attention towards the non-availability of essential commodities and take
stern action against the black marketers and the hoarders.

Yours faithfully
Amrita Verma
