IPTV SYSTEM DESCRIPTION FOR PLACE VENDOME

Introduction

IPTV is today’s latest TV delivery method. IPTV, short for Internet Protocol Television encompasses
multicasting live Free-to-Air (FTA) and Scrambled (Pay-TV) channels throughout the premises data-
network. Utilizing the data-network and CAT6/fiber cabling results in a completely digital video signal
being broadcasted, this means the picture quality seen by the users is of the best quality. Since IPTV
uses the data network to transmit the channels, the need for a traditional coaxial distribution network
is completely eliminated, reducing the cost of coax cables, amplifiers, splitters, etc and reducing the
amount of maintenance needed.
In addition to IPTV, value added services can be added as an optional upgrade such as Video-On-
Demand (VOD), Digital Signage and advertising
services, Interactive TV (ITV), Fire Alarm
Interfacing, Encoder for external video sources
etc..
The IPTV Head-End Streamer will be located in the
AV control room and the IPTV multicast streams
will be transmitted over the Data Network to the
endpoints (either a PC, or IP enabled TV screen.)
Superior DVB quality video pictures will be
delivered to each endpoint in IP format.
Figure 1: IPTV can provide live TV to any network connected
computer, or IP enabled LCD screen.

Overview
It is our pleasure to offer an IPTV solution to such a prestigious project, Vendome Hotel, With an IPTV
system, we will be able to offer you digital, high quality live television to anywhere in the building that
has a network connected data point by using an IPTV STB (Set-Top-Box) for LED or LCD or Plasma and
also PC work-station which has got decent specifications in order to watch TV channels in a standard
browser or any media software.

International Antennas Co. proposes a State-of- the- Art IPTV system which will allow all network
connected points equipped with a STB to view live satellite channels. By installing this IPTV system

Channels will be selected at a later stage in co-ordination with the Employer.

Dish Concrete base for the placement of the satellite antennas, which is to be constructed by others will
be located in the roof top and the location will be decided in co-ordination with the main contractor.

It is recommended that both the IPTV systems will be connected to the designated core switches via
10GB back-bone, using teaming method and deploying identical video streams, where the connection
between the core switches will be via 10GB back-bone using IP transport network, i.e. the LAN, which
will provide services throughout the distributed network.

The IPTV head-end will include all the necessary elements to launch the IPTV service:
 IPTV Middleware Software and Server
This is the heart of the IPTV software which control, monitor and organize IPTV system from one
central location. It is also tools for configuring and maintaining all the set-top boxes.
 DVB to IP gateway (multicast streamer)
This is a modular expandable device where Digital DVB-S input signal from satellite dish
antennas will be converted into IP stream either SD or HD format.
 IP Encoder

IPTV Management
Configurable Headend equipment and STB decoders
have management interfaces for individual
management. In addition to providing management
functionality using the IPTV manager software, this
tool provides an overall view of all manageable
devices, and allows central management control
from anywhere in the network (where configured
utilizing SNMP). Streams, content and decoder
configuration are monitored and controlled via the
management software hosted on the IPTV
management PC connected to the port LAN.

In summary, the IPTV Manager facilitates and allows

the user to identify and manage IPTV head-end and client equipment, monitor streaming TV channels,
single step setup of key configuration across multiple devices and single step upgrade, reboot and
channel change for multiple devices.

Professional Server hardware like HP or DELL will be used for the Nevron Management application.
VOD/MOD
IPTV VOD is part of the IPTV headend or standalone
product that enables the management, control and
distribution of audio and video content upon the
user's demand. The VOD software represents a
modern way of replacing VCR-based user
experiences and replaces traditional known services
such as video rental shops.

The Linux based VOD solution supports trick play

functionality such as play/pause, fast forward, fast
rewind, nVOD content scheduling and playlist
streaming and many other advanced VOD
functionality. Further on, Streamer on IPTV VOD
allows watching full HD and SD movies and listening
to favourite music using local or remote data / file storage.

An nVOD stream represents a live TV channel, which is streamed based on a playlist created from
scheduled files on data storage. nVOD can be scheduled to play continuously 24/7 hour/day or just for
selected time periods.

IPTV video on demand supports unicast streaming for VOD and multicast for nVOD content
transmission. Unicast represents streaming between a single content source (data storage) and a single
receiver that requests a particular A/V item - e.g. movie. On the other hand, multicast represents the
transmission of all the streams at the same time in a one-to-many approach, where the streams are
sent only once to all the specified/subscribed clients in the IP network.
