system family, used to build a 150Mb/s optical point-to-point link. Based on an ASIC chip; it

performs the transportation of 4/8 E1 and a fast Ethernet at full speed. It also provides an

order-wire and an auxiliary UART interface for Management. The AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX

offers a highly integrated solution for the perfect function, stable performance and convenience

with low power consumption.

1.2 Key Benefits

Merges the Ethernet and time-division multiplex (TDM) transmission to the same pipe.

 Provides 4/8 E1 and a 100Mb/s Fast Ethernet interface.

 The standard E1 interfaces comply with ITU-T G.703, G.823 and G.742.

Supports either auto-negotiation or hardware configuration selection of the Ethernet

operation.

The Ethernet interface supports VLAN and Flow Control function.

Real-time Monitoring and all necessary alarm display for easy management.

Supports Local and Remote Loop-back Test.

Uses standard telephone set as order-wire.

Provides one transparent RS232 interface for user’s data links.

Provides RS232 interface for Network Management.

Extends the fiber link up to 120 km without any repeater.

 Compact single board Terminal.

100~220V Ac and -48VDC power supply is optional.

2. Product description

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX series of Multi E1 & Fast Ethernet Optical Terminal is a

product combining of a PDH optical transport system and an Ethernet transceiver, as illustrated in

Figure 1:
Page 2
AN-FM120/240-ETH Optical Multilplexer User Manual

Figure 2.1 Architectrure of AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX can provide up to 8 E1 interfaces and 4 Fast Ethernet

interface. The Ethernet interface can be operated in 10M/100M, half duplex or full duplex mode

by either auto-negotiation or manual setting.

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX also provides an order-wire for which a standard telephone

can be used.

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX also provides a user RS232 transparent data link with a

RJ45 connector.

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX possesses complete operation monitoring function. Those

indicators include Loss of optical signal, LOF, 10-3, 10-6 bit error rate, Loss of each E1 tributary

signal and Ethernet status. Since some overhead bytes are taken as monitoring channel, all

alarm and status of Remote can be display locally.

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX provides RS232 interface for Network Management.

Supported by EasyPDHTM, Users can observe the status of Local and Remote, as well as other

alarm information unable to be displayed by LEDs in the front panel. Also, with EasyPDHTM, user

can make certain E1 loop back for testing purpose. For detail, see EasyPDHTM manual.

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX can be operated with two kinds of power supplies, one for

~220V AC, the other for -48V DC, and users may select either of them when ordering.

5.3 Operation of network management

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX series supports PC-based network management, which will

manage Local and Remote by RS232 serial interface. It can monitor not only the LEDs on the

front panels but also alarms of coding violation of HDB3 (CV).

For details of operations of network management, see User Manuel of EasyPDHTM.

6. Installation and maintenance

6.1 Installation

Open the packing box, move out AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX, and check the packing

list; if there is any loss or damage of any parts, please contact the supplier immediately.

Be careful when powering the equipment: ~220V AC power supply and -48V DC power

supply should not be used simultaneously; otherwise it will be damaged.

Select one from other ~220V DC power supply or -48V DC power supply according to

onsite conditions; if -48V DC power supply is used, please see labels of polarity on -48V

interface of the chassis and do not mistake its polarity. Otherwise the power supply unit

will be damaged.

Turn on the power switch and observe if indicators of AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX

are in normal conditions. Power supply indicator should be on. AN-FM120/240-ETH

OPTIMUX could be configured according to practical needs.

6.2 Maintenance

The apparatus is a precision optoelectronic device. Be careful in transport and handling

process to prevent it from loss, damage, humidity and collision.

AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX has been adjusted to the best status, and all functional

interfaces are located on front or back panel. Except for technicians of the supplier, do

not open the chassis.

If AN-FM120/240-ETH OPTIMUX goes wrong, please contact the supplier in time.
