1. What is Business Process Outsourcing and why it is considered now as a very important i
ndustry in the world of business?
Business Process Outsourcing or BPO, is a business activity in which one organization
employs another company to conduct a process task required by the hiring organization for the
efficient operation of its own business.
Our world has become borderless today with the advent of globalization. As a result,
businesses are now competing on a global stage where it will set you apart from the rest to
meet the continuous demand for efficient customer service. Business process outsourcing is
very important in the world of business because it helps the company gain a competitive edge in
the industry. It also helps organizations to meet their processes and responsibilities to both their
staff and clients while at the same time maintaining a close hold over their operating costs.
Outsourcing of corporate operations will also lower overall costs for enterprises. They won't
have to hire about as many members of the in-house staff who need full-time jobs, salaries,
pensions, and other workplace benefits that cost money to employees.

2. Offshoring is the most popular strategy of outsourcing, why most multi-national BPO
companies considered the Philippines as one of the best place to establish their operations.
Enumerate advantages and disadvantages.
The high level of competence of Filipinos has been recognized by investors in the BPO
industry. The Filipinos' versatility in time is the first thing that makes the Philippines a favorable
BPO destination.Filipino’s have outstanding work ethics like integrity, loyalty, service-oriented
thinking, and the pleasant working environment that they seem to cultivate in the culture of
every company. As compared to other South Asian nations, the Philippines is a low-cost
country. For very low wages, newly graduated and talented individuals from reputed universities
may be employed. In addition, the consequences of colonialism by the US for decades are still
visible here in the Philippines. Therefore, it resulted of people who can speak fluent english with
accents very close to the US.
On the other hand, the biggest outsourcing risk is loss of visibility and control.
Outsourcing firms' employers do not have full control over the workers doing the job. Virtually all
data security and privacy laws state that businesses do not share the burden of compliance,
which ensures that if your outsourcing partner fails to protect sensitive information of your
business, your company is at fault and is responsible for all associated damages or legal
actions that might arise from the leakage of that information. Costs may be higher since
providers can attach premium rates in situations that are not clearly described. Moreover, every
day, in every corner of the globe, Internet connections go down. And your outsourced activities
may be interrupted if you collaborate with a BPO service that runs in a country with weak
internet capabilities which could affect your workflow.

3. Currently, we are in a midst of the covid-19 pandemic, it changes the landscape of the
business environment anywhere else. In your opinion, how it affects BPO operations worldwide,
and especially in our country?
In the first few weeks of quarantine in Manila, only limited sectors were allowed to work.
At that time, BPO businesses were permitted to work. However, they were either obliged to
provide their staff with accommodation or to shift to the Work-From - Home model.
Every outsourcing company has been placed in a precarious situation by the pandemic.
The first struggle we face in our current situation is that we are all trying to prevent the spread of
the virus while trying to make a living. In particuar to the Work-From - Home model, this will be a
challenge not only for outsourcing agents, but also for IT / Technical departments. From setting
up inside the agent 's residence, maintaining a good signal and no IT / Technical teams can be
on duty alongside any agent other than within the office for troubleshooting. All of these
conditions can have a huge impact on results.
