There may be a difference in number of sample tested given here in the media
bulletin and the ICMR portal in view of time-lag between test conducted, results
declared that are shared in real time basis by the labs to the state and the
districts and the time taken for the data updation in the ICMR portal.

One government lab (Military Hospital Wellington, Nilgiris) has been approved for
COVID-19 testing recently.

Summary of UK returnees
Approximately 2,300 passengers travelled from UK between 25th Nov and 23rd Dec forenoon.
Of the above 2,146 were traced and tested, of which 24 were tested positive and 2,122# were
negative. Details of the passengers includes cross notification from/to other states.
#Though these 2,122 travellers already tested negative, as a matter of extra precaution
3,977 close contacts of them were traced and tested, all were found to be negative.

2,343 UK returnees arrived between 08/01/2021 and 20/02/2021. Of the above 1,905
were traced and tested, of which 12 are tested positive, 1,874 are tested negative. Results
of 19 passengers are awaited. Details of the passengers includes cross notification from/to
other states. Tracing of other passengers are underway.

Of the above 36 primary and 20 contact cases, $8 primary case (UK returnee) tested
positive is under treatment in separate isolation ward. Remaining 28 primary and 20
contact cases tested negative on follow-up RT-PCR testing are discharged and kept under
home quarantine.

As per communication received from Instem lab – Bengaluru, total persons with UK variant
on WGS (Whole Genome Sequencing) till date: 11 (UK returnees – 8 and contact – 3). Of
these 11 persons, 1 UK returnee tested positive is under treatment in separate isolation
ward. Remaining 10 persons tested negative on follow up RT-PCR test as per SOP, are
discharged and kept under home quarantine.

 To summarise, out of 56 RT-PCR positive patients (UK returnees –36 and contacts –
20) sent for WGS up to this update, 11 persons were positive, 28 were negative and
17 results are awaited.

Chennai with complaints of Fever and Difficulty in Breathing for 3 days,
died on 19.02.2021 at 11.20 AM due to MODS/ COVID-19 Pneumonia.

Breathing for 3 days, died on 18.02.2021 at 09.30 AM due to COVID-19
Pneumonia.

A 64 Years old Female from Chennai having COVID-19 RTPCR Positivity on
11.02.2021 with DM/CAD admitted on 12.02.2021 at 09.50 PM in Southern
Railway Headquarters Hospital, Chennai with complaints of Difficulty in
Breathing for 5 days, died on 18.02.2021 at 08.30 AM due to COVID-19
Pneumonia.

Death in Government health facilities (DME) due to comorbidities

Death Case No. 12452
A 74 years old Male from Villupuram with Systemic Hypertension/Newly
Diagnosed Type2Diabetes Mellitus admitted on 17.02.2021 at 02.52 AM in
Villupuram Medical College Hospital. Outcome of COVID test positive result
on 17.02.2021. The patient died on 18.02.2021 at 02.05 AM due to COVID
Pneumonia/Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.

Death Case No. 12453

A 72 years old Male from Thanjavur with Type2Diabetes Mellitus/
Systemic Hypertension admitted on 16.02.2021 at 04.30 AM in Thanjavur
Medical College Hospital. Outcome of COVID test positive result on
17.02.2021. The patient died on 17.02.2021 at 07.10 PM due to COVID
Pneumonia/Respiratory Failure/Cardio Respiratory Arrest.

Death Case No. 12454

A 29 years old Female from Chengalpattu with Cerebellar Astrocytoma/
Right Pneumothorax admitted on 03.02.2021 at 09.24 PM in Rajiv Gandhi
Government General Hospital, Chennai. Outcome of COVID test positive
result on 16.02.2021. The patient died on 18.02.2021 at 08.05 PM due to
COVID Pneumonia/Respiratory Failure.
