DARWIN’S PARADIGM SHIFT

Topic/Lesson

1. Difficult Concepts (What concepts did you find difficult to understand?)

i. Paradigm shift or revolution
ii. creation vs. evolution
iii. how his theory became the solution to other problems

2. Insights (What new insights or learnings did you gain in discussion/ activity?)

i. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought that the only
thing Charles Darwin has contributed in our science is the human origins. The
concept that humans evolved from apes. However, reading the
article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize that Charles Darwin has
contributed more to our knowledge now than that. There were so many
findings and discoveries which was learned from his own studies and
researches.

ii. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought the evolution
of man by Charles Darwin was nothing but a myth since I am more into the
religious side story. However, reading the article/understanding the lesson, I
now think/realize that even if it was just a myth, or so I believe, it has lead into
various studies and deeper understanding about us humans. It has
contributed tons especially in the medical field. Even though I believe that
everything in this world is created, reading this article has made more sense
and made me understand deeper on why his research and book was known
and being debated about.
iii. Before reading the article/understanding the lesson, I thought Charles Darwin
worked alone and achieved all his achievements on hi own. However,
reading the article/understanding the lesson, I now think/realize other people
has had their shares in Darwin’s studies, yet only Darwin was the most who
took credit for it.

3. Questions (What questions would you want answers for? Or vague areas you
want more explanations about?
i. What were the moral and ethical issues held by the Darwin’s origin of
man?
ii. Why is it difficult for most to accept Darwin’s theory?
iii. How was it called paradigm shift if many British and American did not
believed and were against his theory?
