Compressor damage may occur if system is over-charged.
OPERATION
To check system operation during heating cycle, use this table. Table indicates whether a correct relationship exists between system
operating pressure and air temperature entering indoor and outdoor units. If pressure and temperature do not match on chart, system
refrigerant charge may not be correct or other system abnormalities may exist. Do not use table to adjust refrigerant charge.
When charging is necessary during heating season, weigh in total charge as indicated on unit rating plate. Rating plate charge is for
systems with 15 ft line-set. Adjust charge at rate of 0.6 oz/ft of 3⁄8" liquid line above or below 15 ft. Remove any refrigerant remaining in
system before recharging. If the system has lost complete charge, evacuate and recharge by weight.

042 80 9 40 16
This unit is factory charged with R-22. The amount is shown on

70 9 20 14 the rating plate. The charge is adequate for most systems using
048 80 8 40 19 a matched indoor coil and a line set not exceeding 15 feet in
95 7 60 21 length. See installation instructions for the use of a line set
70 8 20 27 length exceeding 15 feet.

3. Measure pressure at the liquid line service valve gage port
156 85 80 75 70 65 60 55
by using an accurate gage.
163 88 83 78 73 68 63 58 4. Measure temperature of liquid line near outdoor coil, using

an accurate thermometer, either electronic or thermister
type.

187 97 92 87 82 77 72 67 point where required subcooling temperature intersects
the measured liquid service valve pressure to obtain the

205 103 98 93 88 83 78 73 6. To obtain the required liquid line temperature at the mea-

HEATING CHECK CHART
FIELD OPERATING PRESSURE CHARGING TABLE @ HIGH COMPRESSOR SPEED
(HIGH PRESSURE @ VAPOR VALVE, LOW PRESSURE @ LIQUID VALVE, SUCTION PRESSURE @ SUCTION SERVICE PORT)
WARNING
Service valve gage ports are not equipped with Schrader valves. To prevent personal injury, make sure gage
manifold is connected to the valve gage ports before moving valves off fully backseated position. Wear safe-
ty glasses and gloves when handling refrigerant.
CAUTION
Compressor damage may occur if system is over-charged. To check system operation during heating cycle,
force unit to high speed by adjusting thermostat 2°F or more above room temperature. Table indicates
whether a correct relationship exists between system operating pressure and air temperature entering indoor
and outdoor units. If pressure and temperature do not match on chart, system refrigerant charge may not be
correct or other system abnormalities may exist. Do not use table to adjust refrigerant charge.
When charging is necessary during heating season, weigh in total charge as indicated on unit rating plate.
Rating plate charge is correct system charge for systems which have 25 ft of tubing and liquid line filter drier
provided with unit. Adjust charge .6 oz of refrigerant per foot of tubing. Remove any refrigerant remaining in
system before recharging. If the system has lost complete charge, evacuate and recharge by weight.
