Apparel industry Value Chain

Apparel industry Value Chain depends on 3 steps production, logistic and Sourcing, design sale
and branding[32]

Production
Production process mainly include sourcing of raw material, subassembly and final assembly. In
sourcing raw material companies mainly get fiber of both type synthetic and natural. Natural
fiber include cotton, wool and silk and synthetic fiber include zipper, petroleum and button etc.
Then in sub assembly step value is added in these fibers and then these are converted in to Yarn
and Fibers by spinning, weaving and knitting which is used in final assembly line stage.

Logistic and Sourcing

This stage start with final assembly in which there are two separate industries made Textile
industry and Apparel industry. Textile industry perform knitting in which they produce yarn
from spinning process and fabric and then they provide this fabric to apparel industry by which
they perform further processing by adding value. In Apparel industry brands and apparel product
producers convert fabric into finished products by adding extra value in products which can be
wear then use this sources then retailers through buying offices or on their own continue to the
distribution their products. Or some time retailers who initially designed the clothing outsourced
the manufactured products.

Design sale and branding

This stage includes both distribution, design marketing and sale. Then cutting and sewing
activities perform on the fabric and value addition activities are also performed by creating
different and unique designs in wearable products. And then companies distribute their products
to large retailers. As apparel manufacturers mainly do not have their own brand or distribution
channel for directly accessing to the end markets so they contact to departmental or either
specialty stores for providing their products to end consumers. And they also use online medium
for their marketing and sale.
