VOICE

1. Do you like your voice?

- Yes, definitely. I have a warm voice that makes listeners comfortable, but I don’t sing well
because I have no ear for music.
2. Is your voice different from when you were young?
- I’m not sure about this, but I guess my voice hasn’t changed much since I was a kid.
Otherwise, I should have noticed.
- Yes, my voice has changed a lot from a high-pitched voice to a hoarse voice since I hit
puberty. This distinct voice makes me different from others.
3. Is your voice similar to that of a family member?
- I think my voice is similar to my dad’s voice. We both have a throaty voice. Actually, people
around us say that this kind of voice is sexy, and we’re happy to know that.
No, I don’t think so. My voice is a little throaty, while my parents have a clear and high-

pitched voice. Actually, all the people around me say that I have a sexy voice, and I’m happy
to hear that.

in perfect harmony.

I don’t have to leave home soon.
3. What’s the difference between where you are living now and where you lived in the past?

4. Can you describe the accommodation you are living in?

e

hu
just some basic furniture, but it has a small balcony where I put some flower pots for
decoration.

It’s perhaps the living room where we have a lot of sharing moments. We often gather together

- Yes. My house is quite accessible. I can easily catch a bus or a taxi or ride my own motorbike.

The thing I like most about my room is the balcony where I set a table and an armchair, and
put some flower pots for decoration. Sometimes, I spend my whole morning to sit there to
read books or listen to music. That’s great.

10. Do you prefer to live in a house or an apartment/ a flat?
- It kind of depends. Now, I’m a single man, so I think a flat is a better choice for me because
I don’t need to spend much time cleaning and tidying it. But when I have my family, it would
be better to live in a house. There will be more space for children to play around.
11. What part of your home do you like the most?
- My bedroom is part of my home I like the most. That is the only place where I can relax after
tiring working days. I can lie on my comfortable sofa, take any book from the bookshelf
nearby to read or listen to my favorite songs. That’s fantastic.

kind of person who has high self-esteem. Also, my parents always give me enough money to
spend during a month.

MATHEMATICS
1. Do you think mathematics is important?
- Yes, definitely. Mathematics is a compulsory subject in school. By learning maths, people
can develop the ability to think logically and critically.
2. Do you think it’s difficult to learn mathematics well?
- Yes. There are so many mathematical formulas and theories that I cannot cram into my
head. This subject used to be a nightmare for me as I always got bad marks for it.
3. When do kids in Vietnam start to learn math?
- In my country, kids officially learn math when they start primary school. However, in some
kindergartens, teachers teach kids to perform simple calculations such as addition or
subtraction.
4. Are girls generally good at mathematics?

e
- I think no. Most of the girls don’t excel at mathematics because generally they cannot deal

hu
with the figures. They tend to be more gifted in social science or humanities.
5. Do you often use a calculator?
oc
- Yes. I don’t excel at dealing with the figures, so whenever I pay bills, I have to rely on a
ng

calculator to do sums fast and accurately.

6. What are the advantages and disadvantages of using a calculator?
lts

- Speaking of the advantage, calculators help people to do sums rapidly and precisely instead
of taking hours to finish calculations, especially difficult ones. However, over-reliance on
ie

calculators makes some individuals forget how to do simple calculations or become slow in
mental calculations.
7. What methods can be applied to make math class more interesting?
- To make students more interested in math classes, I highly recommend that schools should
organize field trips to certain places like markets so that students can apply the knowledge
they gain at school to real life, instead of just asking them to finish math exercises in the
textbooks.
8. How do schools teach math in Vietnam?
- In Vietnam, teachers just focus on cramming theories and formulas into students’ heads
rather than teaching them how to apply the theoretical knowledge to real-life issues.

STREET MARKET

- I think you can find everything you want in street markets from foods and clothes to
handicrafts and household appliances. It’s even more time and effort-saving to do the
shopping in street markets because you don’t have to find a parking place or wait in a long
queue for paying as you do in supermarkets.
2. Are there many street markets in Vietnam?
- Yes, there are thousands of street markets across my country. Before the rapid rise of
supermarkets, street markets were the common places where Vietnamese people shop for
their daily necessities, and in fact, they are now.
3. What are the differences between street markets and supermarkets?
- The most significant difference is related to bargain. You cannot make any bargains when

shopping in supermarkets coz everything has a fixed price on the tag. In contrast, bargaining

hu
is common in local markets; otherwise, you can be overcharged.

4. What are the disadvantages of social networking apps?

advertisements on those apps, so you can waste much of your money on unsatisfactory
lts

products.
5. Do you think it is good to make friends online?

exactly what they look like, what they are like, and why they approach you.
6. Are you going to change the amount of time spending on social networking apps in the future?
- Yes. Actually, I’m considering this. According to the weekly report on my phone, I normally

of time spending online to take up good habits like reading books or doing physical

WEATHER

1. What is the weather like in your country?

is either boiling hot or freezing cold. Some parts of my country experience a blanket of
snow in winter.
2. Which months have the best weather in your country?
- It kind of depends on each person. For me, I like autumn the most because, during months of
this season, the weather is pleasant. I can enjoy the breezes in the morning and in the evening.
3. Does it bother you much when it rains?

to get soaked and then catch a cold. But if I just stay at home, it doesn’t bother me at all.
4. What is your favorite kind of weather?

5. Is there any type of weather you really don’t like?

I don’t want to do whatever outside, and just opt for watching films at home to kill time
instead.
9. Is it worse to feel too hot or too cold?

front of fans or air conditioning. Not mentioning electricity cut, you think that would be so

5. What are the disadvantages of travelling?
ng

- Well, there are numerous drawbacks of traveling, but the biggest one is probably the
expenses. You would pay a lot for airfares, transportation, accommodation, food,
lts

entertainment, and other extra costs. Also, you can face challenges of language barriers and
cultural shocks.
ie

6. Do you like jobs that require a lot of travelling?

- No. I’m not interested in jobs that require a lot of traveling, like taxi drivers, flight
attendants, tour guides or travel bloggers. They are all tiring and exhausting.
7. Should we travel to unusual places?
- Although visiting unusual places may be intriguing, it’s not a good idea for me when it
comes to safety and security. There are so many unintentional and intentional accidents
found in such places.

TRANSPORTATION
1. What’s the most popular means of transportation in your hometown?
- When talking about the most common means of transport in my country, I guess It’s probably
motorbikes. Riding motorbikes on the roads in Vietnam is the quickest and most convenient
option as there’s always traffic congestion, especially in big cities.
2. Can you compare the advantage of planes and trains?
- Obviously, in terms of speed, traveling by plane is a better option. For example, it takes you
approximately 2 hours to reach HCM city – the biggest city in Vietnam through flying, but
nearly 20 hours by train. However, when it comes to the safety, I would opt for trains because
there are fewer accidents reported.
3. How often do you take buses?
- Once in a blue moon. I just take a bus when my motorbike is broken. You know, I’m car-

e
sick, so I always vomit when getting on the bus. Also, the bus is often crowded and smelly.
4. Is driving to work popular in your country?
-
hu
Yes, driving a car to work is growing fast in popularity in my country. This is simply
oc
because people these days are richer and richer, and there are more and more car brands that
ng

are affordable for people.

5. Would you ride bikes to work in the future?
lts

- Yes, but only when my workplace is near my house. Otherwise, riding a bike in a long
distance is physically demanding, not mentioning the bad weather.
ie

6. Do you prefer public transportation or private transportation?

- I prefer private vehicles to public transport. Using your own vehicle means that you have the
freedom of movement; you don’t need to wait so long for the bus or tube. Therefore, it’s
more time and effort-saving.
7. Do you think people will drive more in the future? / What will become the most popular means
of transportation in your country?
- Certainly, yes. With the improved life quality, people increasingly afford expensive things
like cars. Also, there are more and more types of car that are available at a low price. So I
guess one day, cars will replace motorbikes to be the most common mode of transport in my
country.
