activities, based on the context, the communicative task and the different information
and communication technologies available, in order to:
Listening Comprehension

● understand, in guided situations, by identifying key words or expressions


previously taught (alphabet), the main ideas or isolated details about a variety
of concrete topics contained in authentic or adapted oral texts (e.g., Les sons,
Avoir, Months, Numbers 0-31, Telling your age, Asking people their age,
Telling your birthday, Asking someone when their birthday is.)

Reading Comprehension

● understand, in guided situations, by identifying key words or expressions


previously taught, the main idea(s) or isolated details about a variety of
concrete topics contained in authentic or adapted written texts (e.g., Les sons,
Avoir, Months, Numbers 0-31, Telling your age, Asking people their age,
Telling your birthday, Asking someone when their birthday is.)

Oral Production

● name, list, describe, ask and answer questions, give simple directions, indicate
basic needs or preferences orally, with limited spontaneity, in a defined, highly

Students will:
1. Understand what pronouns are in english and in french
2. Understand how to conjugate the verb avoir au present
Assessments
- Avoir worksheets
Prior to the Lesson Materials
- print off worksheets - avoir youtube video
- create google slide presentation - avoir worksheets
- Avoir google slide presentation

Procedure
Introduction Time
- begin the lesson by opening up the google slides presentation and begin 10 minutes
to discuss pronouns
- what is a pronoun
- go through the essential french pronouns (je/j’, tu, il, elle, nous,
vous, ils, elles)
- have students write out the pronouns in their cahier
Body Time
- transition to learning the verb avoir (to have) 36 minutes
- explain to students that just like in english there are verbs in french as
well and we have to conjugate the verbs much like in english
- show students a picture of the verbe avoir au present and briefly go
through the pronunciation
- tell students they do not need to copy down this information just yet
- play the avoir youtube video maybe once or twice through
- really get it stuck in their heads
- transition to note taking, have students start to take notes of the verbe
avoir at the bottom of their page below the pronoun notes
- read through the verbs multiple times to ensure students are retaining
the information
- pass out avoir work booklet and have students work on the worksheets
Closure Time
- close the lesson by having students pack up their stuff and put what is 5 minutes
needed in the bin and as an exit slip they must say goodbye in french
(next lesson have students translate a sentence in french using the verbe avoir to
start)
